When I first saw that Marvel was going to do Marvel Zombies for Secret Wars a part of me cringed, because as much as I loved the original, I wasn’t sure zombies were something that needed to be rehashed — even with a twist — at this point with the market for such stories already being fairly saturated.

As it turns out, I was wrong. Dead wrong.

No pun intended, naturally.

This book really isn’t about zombies from the Marvel Universe, although they’re definitely in there. It’s about the relationship between a father and daughter and how that relationship has impacted the main character (Elsa Bloodstone) and how she relates to others in the world around her.

It was surprisingly deep and rich for a zombie story, so I totally feel I got my money’s worth out of the issue.

Check out the video review for a full breakdown. Oh and there are spoilers, so you’ve been warned.
