The Greatest Comic Book Mix-Up of ALL TIME

This is quite possibly the biggest paradox of all comicdom, transcending even publication corporations!!!

Editorial Opinion

We all cherish our beloved comic book heroes. Their names are etched into our minds and hearts. Names which are the bases for many of our usernames, emails, and even passwords. But as William Shakespeare wrote, "What's in a name?" And names are the subject of this editorial. Two names in fact. Two of the most recognizable names in all of comicdom.

Batman and Daredevil.

These two beloved characters have a connection that has not been made by most of us. When looking at these heroes logically, one may come to the realization that they have been mismatched patronymically (that means their names, for those of you who don't own a thesaurus).

Bruce Wayne. A man among men. His hobbies include, but are not limited to, stunt driving, hang-gliding, martial arts, skydiving, parkour, etc etc. All activities that in our world would get him labeled a "daredevil".

Then, let us take a look at Matt Murdock (no pun intended). A blind lawyer by day, crime fighter by night. He uses a power gained from the accident that caused his blindness to use sound as an instrument to map his surroundings, much like sonar, or echolocation. A power essentially making him a "bat-man".

This is simply my opinion. I am a big fan of both of these remarkable characters. But it just seems a bit paradoxical to me that the hero that has more in common with a bat and the man that pulls off more stunts in a week the Evel Knievel did in his career are more fitted more for the others' title.

This is my first article, so let me know what you think.

@dellamorte1872: the whole fear of bats thing really came into play in Batman Begins. Before that, Bruce Wayne decided on the symbol of the bat because a bat crashed through the window of his house when he was asking the ghost/memory of his father what he should become to make criminals fear him. It was the bat because criminals "are a superstitious and cowardly lot."

I don't know, I think Deadpool showing up in one of the Superman/Batman Annuals transcended corporations pretty heavily.

Never really made these connections. If you came up with this off the top of your head then good job!

If you wanna go that route, he could have also been "Captain Satan, King of Adventure"

And no, that wasn't just from the cartoon. That was from the comic. In the 30's. Plus the original design of his costume was red. Just a coincidence though. It was never printed as such.

Daredevil is essentially MARVEL's Batman.
