Title: The Walking Dead #163

Story by Robert Kirkman

Art by Charlie Adlard

Publisher: Image Comics

Release Date: 2/1/17

This is what people were looking for in the last arc, “The Whisperer War”, of The Walking Dead comic series Alexandria to be completely overrun by zombies!

Picking up from where the last issue left off zombies completely surround Alexandria without any time to flee. Eugene, Andrea, and others ride off in hopes of splitting up the zombies allowing the gang left back at the base to pick off the rest. There is only one slight problem there is just too many of them leading them to think of a plan on the spot. This plan is to go in drives splitting of the horde in chunks. While things are going all right outside the wall inside is another story as the zombies quickly move towards the town with ease. The gates break causing for a major evacuation scene one the likes of Cloud City.  To save from any spoilers I will leave off with that.

The pacing of this issue is a tad rushed at the end but that is due to a stylistic approach tying in with the content. From the start of the “Conquered” storyline, it gives off the impression that this will one of the better story arcs and that’s saying a lot in The Walking Dead comic series.

Adlard provides art that perfectly captures the tone of the story with decent penciling as the town is surrounded mirrored by the facial expressions of the characters. Overall this is a standard job for Adlard (a compliment not a complaint.)

The “Conquered” storyline provides some memorable moments that were expected to be in the last arc The Whisperer War”. Kirkman and Adlard team up to provide another issue of The Walking Dead which the fans crave for.
