The third installment of
Void Trip is out tomorrow, and it is a doozy. For those of you who haven't picked up the first two issues, now is the time to click away from this screen and head over to

Ana and Gabriel, two self-dubbed 'vagabonds' but definitely-not-pirates, have been trekking across the universe in search of Euphoria. Well, sort of. In issues 1 and 2, we clearly see that Ana is determined to have them take the scenic route, even though they have exact coordinates. Yet, Ana has been adamant about taking their time to get there, citing that "...the journey is the destination."
There's been some build up in the previous issues about just what 'Euphoria' is, and a few trippy moments of froot-induced hallucinations hinting toward some Jedi-like spirituality involved in their consumption (more likely, our heroes are probably just super duper baked. All the time). Issue three finally gets us a few answers, and none of those answers are what you're probably expecting.
Although, if you were expecting humor O'Sullivan and Klaus definitely deliver. This series is nothing if not a good time. Thus far,
Void Trip has borrowed a lot from the stereotypical hippie culture, but applied it to a futuristic space scene in some rather obnoxious and amusing ways. The third issue of
Void Trip takes this unlikely space/hippie marriage even further in ways I can't disclose without giving too much away about Euphoria itself.
So far, Euphoria has been central to the plot in ways that lead the reader to believe the journey there will be longer and harder than Ana and Gabe make it sound (especially with a murderous hunter not far behind them). While that isn't entirely untrue, it's clearly not the destination or even half the journey our protagonists had in mind.
With this latest installment, readers are going to see a turning point in the story--like, hard left turning point. Which isn't a bad thing, considering there are only two issues remaining after tomorrow's release. Suffice it to say, this story is finally in full swing!
