Well, I could say don't read any further if you don't want to know how Archie dies, but the headline was pretty straightforward and your clicking on it means you're ready. Here's how it will go down: Kevin Keller, Archie's gay pal and newly elected senator, will become the target of an assassination attempt. Archie will quite literally take the bullet. You can read all about it this week in the pages of Life With Archie #36. In the very near future, Life With Archie #37 will deal with the fallout of the tragedy. Both stories will also be collected into a magazine sized Life With Archie #36 and the inevitable trade paperback.

“The Death of Archie is the biggest story in Archie Comics history – and a major milestone for comics, period,” said Publisher and Co-CEO Jon Goldwater. “It’s the one thing everyone wants to talk about – with good reason. LIFE WITH ARCHIE presents a possible future for the character, and this issue is a fitting end to that story. Archie dies as he lived – a hero, representing the best in all of us. The fact that he’s saving Kevin, the most important new character in Archie lore since Archie, Betty & Veronica, Jughead and Reggie – is a metaphor for the rebirth this company has experienced over the last five years. This is truly a new Archie Comics: unafraid, daring, progressive and on the cusp of greatness.”

Several readers have asked me what this means for the character going forward. In short, most titles are unaffected. Life With Archie is an out of continuity book that shows him in his adult life. Most books he appears in follow him in high school. Afterlife With Archie, the awesome book in which he fights zombies, is obviously unaffected as well.

Below are details concerning Archie Comics SDCC plans. I have the full rundown for panels, signings, and con exclusive books.

@NetmanTripleSec

…….It's an out of continuity story. And what do you care, you don't read it. But yeah, The New 52 is not so bad.
