Kevin Feige On Vin Diesel Meeting, "There's Nothing To Announce With Vin"

Whatever was discussed between actor Vin Diesel (Fast & Furious 6) and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is so far down the line Feige says it might not ever exist. So that most likely means Vin is not voicing Rocket Raccoon or Groot and probably isn't Ultron.

Vin Diesel has teased a looming Marvel Studios announcement for the past few days but Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has just thrown a bit of a wet blanket on that wildfire. Said Kevin Feige, "Well, here's what I will tell you about Vin. And I'll be very honest with you. We did a press day on the "Captain America" set last week or something. The very first question was, "So how did the meeting with Vin Diesel go?" I went, "Here's the funny thing, it hasn't happened yet. It happens at 3 p.m. today." And they went, "Oh, really?" And it did and he came by and met. So, I'll say two things: One, there's nothing to announce with Vin. Vin is an amazing guy and an amazing personality."

Feige also says that no announcements will be made about Vin's role at Disney's upcoming D23 Expo next month. When specifically asked, Feige replied, "No. It's so far ahead it may not even exist. So, there's nothing to announce. But, I love Vin and he's an amazing personality. Look how much attention he's gotten for a meeting. He's incredibly shrewd. He's got a Riddick movie that I can't wait to see. And the "Fast & Furious" franchise, in addition to Vin, is a franchise I admire a lot for turning the sixth and next year the seventh into the biggest and most popular one. As far as a piece of it? Could someday we do a "Luke Cage: Hero for Hire" in that kind of vein. Totally."

So if we apply a bit of logic to what Feige says above (who opened the interview with a statement that he would never outright lie à la Talia Al Ghul or Khan) whatever was discussed and agreed upon with Diesel is so far down the line Marvel is unsure if they'll ever even get to it. So that means no, Vin's not voicing Groot or Rocket Raccoon, and no, he's not playing Ultron in "Avengers: Age of Ultron."

I wonder who's lying between the two. Vin said a big story about him and Marvel will be announced at the end of this month. Fiege is saying that there is nothing going on with Vin and Marvel. I hate liars.

I'm calling bullshit. Why would Vin lie? We know Feige lies.

By the way didnt they say Marvel would announce 2 movies at Comic-Con? What happen to that?

Why reference a film like TDKR on a marvel article? It just cheapens the greatness that is marvel.

I was there when Vin was asked the question and he seemed mighty confident that this guy was attempting to spoil a massive surprise. He was talking about Marvel the way only actors who already work for Marvel do... I'm sure Feige just wants to keep this real news close to the chest.

Though the article directly contradicts it, I still think something is being saved for a reveal at D23. If it's about Vin, cool. But I'd be fine if it's something else entirely.

Feige basically confirmed that Vin has a role but the current plan is for his character to appear in a film that's so far out right now it's not worth discussing as they may go a different route.

It sounds like Vin is appearing in a sequel and if that first film fails then he'll never get to play the role he's just signed up for.

I'm not sure about Doug for Vision. Look at the characters Doug plays. Abe, Surfer. He would see better for perhaps the movements behind Ultron you know?

Interesting. KF could just be downplaying the events that transpired between them, although that doesn't make sense. Why not announce him as a Marvel Avengers 2 character for at the biggest CBM event of the year? IMO he's wrong for Vision.

@ im53

as for ultron being in the avengers before hank pym they could get round it this way.

phase 2

the avengers 2,ultron comes from the future to take on earths mightiest heroes

phase 3

ant-man,whatever story they come up with could be the main plot but throughout the film you could see hank pym working in his lab on some project.

later on in the movie fury/coulson could offer him a place on the avengers team, which he excepts then we go back down to the lab & pym lifts something off his work bench revealing ultron's head.

then the audience realizes that pym is the reason that ultron attacked the avengers & now his just joined their line up.
