Carnage, the offspring of Venom, was killed five years ago by the Sentry back in New Avengers. Now he is making his return to the Marvel universe.
Except Carnage is not a "he" anymore, but a she. That's right. Cletus Cassidy died, but the Carnage Symbiote didn't. The symbiote will be absorbing a new host. The new series titled "Carnage" was originally called Astonishing Spider-Man/Iron Man, is coming out this fall. For more details on this, read the interview IGN had with Zebb Wells below.

By starting from scratch are you referring to a new character? Can you tell us a bit about the character? Does this person know Peter Parker? Wells:
She's a civilian who gets sucked in to Spider-Man and Iron Man's world. We're going to see just how much of Carnage's villainy was Cletus, and how much was the symbiote. ... That's enough. IGN Comics:
Has Carnage's "death" changed its perspective on life to some degree? Are its powers/abilities the same? Wells:
Well, we know Cletus died, but the symbiote just went dormant. It's coming back loaded for bear. As far as abilities go, it will have certain... augmentations. IGN Comics:
Obviously Carnage's resurrection will be a key part of this storyline, but what else can you tell us about the plot? What is Carnage setting out to do this time around? Wells:
The Carnage symbiote wants to kill and maim. Others want to use it as a tool for good. We'll see how long that lasts. IGN Comics:
Previously we've seen Carnage roll with a variety of supporting characters like Shriek or Doppleganger. Will it have a crew this time around as well? Wells:
We will see some multi-symbiote action, yes. You could say we're planning on maximizing the Carnage... IGN Comics:
Where there is Carnage, there is Venom… only Carnage's mortal enemy is now the Anti-Venom. Will we see these two clash? Will we see Carnage mixing it up with Mac Gargan's Venom? Wells:
I'd be more interested in seeing him go up against Eddie Brock. Hmmmm... IGN Comics:
Iron Man is an interesting choice to bring into this storyline. How does Tony Stark become involved? Why did you want to use him? Wells:
I like the new, humbled Tony Stark Matt Fraction has been so deftly creating, and the liquid nature of his new armor makes the symbiote a great enemy for him. IGN Comics:
