Samuel L. Jackson says his character is "very pro 'Auto-Cop'" in the futuristic, semi automaton law enforcement and military world of Padilha's "RoboCop." He also addresses how he believes fans of the original film will respond to the remake. It sounds more and more like the movie will have strong themes of sociopolitical viewpoints on technology and gun control. But as a fan of the original, the question remains - will it have the same level of violent action, contemporarily speaking, as the original film did in 1987?

RoboCop (2014) is a remake of the classic 1987 sci-fi film from director Paul Verhoeven and lead actor Peter Weller. The remake will be directed by José Padilha and star Joel Kinnaman (The Killing). Also starring are Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Keaton, Abbie Cornish and Jackie Earle Haley. Hugh Laurie was originally set to play Keaton's role before dropping out of the picture. The film is a joint-production between MGM and Sony.
