One of the most celebrated comic runs ever is returning with fresh content next year as part of Vertigo's 20 Year Anniversary and DC's top execs took a moment to talk about what that means for DC as one of the industry's top 2 publishers. The two execs spoke glowingly of Gaiman and artist JH Williams III and revealed that the series will be available, same-day digital.

Interestingly enough, Dan Didio referred to the title as Sadman: Year Zero and its been confirmed that the series takes place before Sanman #1 so this could indeed be the title of the series. Stay tuned, more details as we have them.

i feel like there's a time/place/context for Lee's artwork, and I honestly feel it is not Watchmen, and frankly, I kind of don't want to see it on Wonder Woman either (but no use holding my breath for Adam Hugh's all-star WW either).

I'm actually a bit shocked at the lack of interest for this. The likes of Watchmen, TDKR and other classics are still revered and quite popular on this site, but Sandman seems to have passed many people by. A shame. This is the biggest news in comics I can recall.

agree with Ror... the lack of a movie dampens interest i think, as a lot of people on cbm don't even read comics regularly. People should check out sandman tho, especially if they're looking for more than your average superpowered fight in a title. If you love stories, then this is the book for you!

@ RorMachine You have to take in the fact that this is mainly a site geared towards people who are just familiar with the movie aspects of comics. Most of the people who comment on this site do not read comics on the daily.

Sandman as a whole is my favorite book of all time. Notice I didn't say "comic," but book in general. It is seriously the greatest story I've ever read, and I urge everyone to read it whenever possible.

This news brings a wide smile to my face. I cannot wait for a new installment. With Gaiman writing, it is assured to be outstanding.

Yes. Ever since the first news about this I'm grinning like an idiot. Best thing to happen in years. :D
