Salt Lake Comic Con Attendance Breaks Records

The Salt Lake Comic Con, which was held last week, September 4th - 6th, sold out by noon on Saturday, shattering its previous attendance record with more than 120,000 attendees, which included 15,000 tickets given away to charities, military personel, first responders and sponsored schools.

With VIP passes and vendor booths selling out weeks before the start of the con, opening day saw more than 60,000 fans showed up to register and the final day, Saturday, September 6th, saw more than 90,000 fans attend the convention, which was held at the Salt Palace, Gateway film festival events and gaming tournements at nearby hotels.

“The response we got from fans was tremendous,” said Dan Farr, Salt Lake Comic Con Founder and Show Producer.  “I’ve said it before and I mean it, we have the greatest fans in the world. Our fans’ overwhelming support allowed us to give back over 15,000 tickets into the community, and for that, we are extremely proud.  CW’s Arrow star Stephen Amell posted on his Facebook page on Saturday saying, ‘I don't know if there are enough superlatives in my vocabulary to describe the people of Salt Lake City. What a fantastic collection of friends I got to meet today.’ Word is spreading amongst the celebrities about how great our fans are and it’s making Salt Lake Comic Con a ‘can’t miss show’ for celebrities.”

“We want to thank our fans for helping us build Salt Lake Comic Con into one of the premier comic con’s in the country in just one year,” said Bryan Brandenburg, Salt Lake Comic Con Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer.  “During his panel, Stan Lee, the King of comicbooks, called Salt Lake Comic Con ‘the greatest comic con in the world’.  We know we owe that all to our fans and are committed to continuing to build upon this success to give our fans the best show possible moving forward. This year we had over 120,000 people attend our convention over three days. It’s important to have this kind of attendance to attract the high caliber guests that we want to bring for future events. Success breeds more success. ”

The Salt Lake Comic Con returns to the Salt Palace Convention Center September 2015. best time to be a comic book fan, at my work I even hear moms actually saying captain america and thor, instead of those super hero people :') , although I've noticed a lot of non comic book people jumping on the super hero bang wagon just because its ''in'' , it annoys me

I always liked the way Grell did Bond. He even got the scar described in the novels down.

I was there as an exhibitor and press, which helped the experience because I was able to avoid the long lines waiting to get in. I was amazed at how many people showed up. I've been to big conventions in Boston and NYC and this surpassed both of them both in floor space and attendance. The show had major problems on Thursday getting fans in the door. I talked to some people who reported waiting 3-4 hours to get in on Thursday. Friday and Saturday were much better with far shorter lines. I think the organizers were overwhelmed by how many people showed for the first day. The booths were nicely organized and the celebrity signings were also well setup. I was especially amazed at the turnout because the guest list wasn't anything special, especially when compared to last years SL Comic Con or this past Spring's Fan-X. I think the San Diego lawsuit may have scared some of the celebrities away this year. However, the fans certainly showed up in force which has me excited about the future of this show.

Nice! I've got most of the Fleming novels, but I've only got a few of the comics.. but of all the ones I've seen, Grell does the best Bond.

I hope whoever found it isn't so old and glaucoma-ridden that it's a total waste.
