It appears that the October 10th production deadline previously mentioned has gone by and that the Daredevil franchise, including all villians that fall under it, has returned to Marvel Studios from 20th Century Fox.

This deal would appear to include Elektra, Bullseye, Purple Man, and The Hand could all appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe now at the discretion of Marvel Studios.

For those curious, there are only four remaining franchises that remain out of Marvel Studios control.

20th Century Fox owns the X-Men franchise and the Fantastic Four, both of which have films either in pre-production or in the filming stages.

Sony Pictures still has the Spiderman franchise and the Ghost Rider franchise.

What actually happened with Hulk? Did they regain the rights before TIH or did they always own them anyway?

@AaronianKenro- I'm pretty sure they kept the rights for Hulk and Universal was the production house. For TIH Marvel was the production house and Universal was kept on to distribute, similar to the Paramount deal they had for Iron Man.

This is great news! My guess is that Ghost Rider will be the next to revert. Sony will continue to hold on to Spider-man like grim death and if The Wolverine or next Xmen movie don't do as well as expected Fox may want to partner with Marvel for cross overs to ride Avengers wave.

@marvel72
Its been widely speculated that Fox has seven year contracts on their franchises while Sony has five year contracts on theirs. I believe we will see Ghostrider back at Marvel sometime in 2017.

Fantastic Four I believe would need to come out by the first quarter of 2015 so the clock is definitely ticking, though I have a feeling an announcement will be coming soon, Fox shareholders will probably not be happy they lost Daredevil ad would be devastated if they lost Fantastic Four (They both made big money)

@ rhinoman

i agree with about ghost rider.as for the fantastic four the cool thing about them rights is you don't just get the fantastic four i.e silver surfer,galactus & dr.doom.

if the fantastic four floops,i can see the rights reverting back.

@levitkuz I don't want to look for it but Marc Webb confirmed that he can use Kingpin in any movie he wants with Spidey due to him originating in Spiderman comics. The original deal for Kingping's usage in Daredevil was a deak brokered between Fox and Sony independent of Marvel Studios

Ghost Rider looks to be the next one to go. Sony would rather die a slow, horrible, painful death than part ways with Spider-Man.

I thought Marvel can use Kingpin whenever they pleased? =/

Ghost Rider is definitely next. XD

@CaptainObvious - LoL, it may seem so. They probably won't let good ol' Spidey go without a fight (and I'm hoping Marvel is ready for such a thing). As for Ghost Rider, yeah, we'll definitely see 'im back in Marvel's hands and let them take a crack at the skull head.

I know the Ghost Rider films weren't that good, but I think Ghost Rider would do well to appear in a Dr. Strange film. If they did a true-to-source Mephisto and Blackheart, it would be amazing. I think Dr. Strange might be the best way to make Ghost Rider interesting and relevant to the MCU.

But, man, oh, man, X-Men and FF will be a TOUGHY to reel in! Fox will certainly try anything to keep them away from Marvel. And getting them both back in Marvel's hands will, unfortunately, take quite a while. Sad, really. The same with Spidey. *Sigh* If Marvel can find a way to get Webhead back in their hands, then I'll be just happy, happy, happy. But, wishful thinking. Let's just hope, wait, and see what happens. :)

@MARVELPSYCHO79 - LoL, no sh!t, man. He will indeed be next. As you've said, seeing as how GR: SoV bombed in box office this year, there probably is no time for Sony to do another sequel or even a reboot for the skull head (seeing as how they're busy with Spider-Man). So, yep. We shall see GR riding back to Marvel, leaving behind nothing but ashes and smoke for Sony. :P

@MARVELPSYCHO79 - Oh, really? 2014?!! LoL, I hope to God that there's delays for FF then, 'cause if such a thing should happen then FF can be warmly, happily welcomed back to Marvel. :D

What about King Pin? Is he included with the DD franchise? I would guess he was, but there seems to be not mention of that. Personally, I'd like Marvel studios to develop a DD TV series. It would be perfect to show a different side of the MCU and it would be interesting as he's a lawyer etc.

@Marvelpsycho79

Production yes but most likely released in first quarter of 2015. Elektra (DD last apperence) was a January film. FF was a June 2007 film, seeing as Daredevil rights went in October that means give or take 9 months from the last movie premiere in addition to the seven years to find the most likely date of the film rights reverting

She is, the reason Daredevil came now instead of after the original film is because he had a cameo in the Elektra film, other reports were incorrect

@MARVELPSYCHO79 - Inside the FF's universe will most definitely bring Marvel and us fans a more opened and wide range of such epic proportions. We fans and CBMers would indeed love to see a potential MCU team-up with either Avengers/Fantastic Four, Avengers/X-Men, Fantastic Four/X-Men, Avengers/Silver Surfer going up against Marvel's #1 bad@$$ villians (Galactus, Thanos, Annihilus, Skrulls, Krees, Loki, Norman Osborn, The Dark Avengers, etc.). That's why I'm hoping for FF and/or X-Men to get back to us and hopefully won't take long to do so. :)

was Daredevil an Avenger? If I'm marvel I would try and have him a role in Avengers 2 and see if there is any interest in a solo movie...

Having said that he would be perfect for the shield tv series now. I hope the shield tv series does what Smallville mostly shied away from (other than later years) and thats to see characters in their costumes.

I never understood the way of thinking that a tv series becomes less credible because the characters are in costumes but yet they can get away with a serious movie that has characters in costumes...if written well it can be done without issues and without going crazy budget wise.

I don't have a problem with DareDevil being back with Marvel AS LONG as they don't make him part of their shared universe. Let him have his own universe. I'd rather not ruin him with a shared one. He doesn't share the type of tone that the rest of the Universe has.

Could Marvel buy out Fox and Sony? If so, they should just pay the price, take the hit and chalk it up as a lesson well earned.. DON'T SELL OFF YOUR ICONS.

In my opinion, both X-men and Spidey could have been 10 times better under Marvel.

@Lizard1

Thats silly, of course Daredevil should be in the MCU.

What you mean is they should focus on Daredevil as a street level hero and keep him far away from anything to do with the Avengers. I completely agree with you that he has a different tone to the tone of the Avengers movies but that doesnt mean he has to be in a different universe. He fits in quite well with the other superheroes in the 616 universe without constantly crossing over with them and his comics still have their own darker tone
