We've known about DC League of Super-Pets for a while now, and Warner Bros. finally shared a first look at footage during DC FanDome. As promised, that's been followed by a trailer revealing more about what to expect from the animated adventure (and yes, that's John Krasinski voicing Superman).
The ensemble also includes Kate McKinnon, Vanessa Bayer, Natasha Lyonne, Diego Luna, Keanu Reeves, and Marc Maron, but it's Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart who will seemingly take centre stage as Krypto the Superdog and Ace the Bat-Hound. In this trailer, we learn that the former assembles a team of superhero animals in order to rescue the Man of Steel himself.
"In 'DC League of Super-Pets,' Krypto the Super-Dog and Superman are inseparable best friends, sharing the same superpowers and fighting crime in Metropolis side by side," reads the synopsis. "When Superman and the rest of the Justice League are kidnapped, Krypto must convince a rag-tag shelter pack—Ace the hound, PB the potbellied pig, Merton the turtle and Chip the squirrel—to master their own newfound powers and help him rescue the superheroes."
It looks like a fun time and is clearly a movie aimed at younger fans of the DC Universe. Something tells us we can probably have fun with it too, though, and this 3-minute sneak peek includes the sort of Easter Eggs that comic book readers should appreciate (even when it does feel a little too much like The Secret Life of Pets with superpowers thrown in for good measure).
We're keeping an open mind, that's for sure, and this first proper sneak peek is worth checking out.
