DC Studios Boss Teases Even More Fan-Favorite Characters For DCU; Promises Major Casting News This Year

At the end of January, DC Studios finally revealed the first movies and TV shows that will be part of the "Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters" slate.

We know that's only a fraction of James Gunn and Peter Safran's 8-10 year plan, and the former has once again shared some exciting teases about the future on social media. Our friends over at Bleeding Cool recently revealed 8 characters they're hoping to see in the DCU, and Gunn would later confirm that there are plans for at least half of them.

For those of you wondering, the heroes listed were Arsenal (Roy Harper), Superman (Jon Kent), Vixen (Mari McCabe), Terra (Tara Markov), Green Lantern (Kyle Rayner), Nightwing (Dick Grayson), Static (Virgil Hawkins), and Batgirl (Cassandra Cain).

We can probably eliminate Jon Kent because the DCU's Superman won't be old enough to have a son. Gunn has, however, said he's a big fan of Vixen and Batgirl, while we'd be shocked if Nightwing isn't part of The Brave and the Bold. After all, the Bat-Family is expected to factor into that story.

Adding that there's "no way" we'll find out the identities of the 4 characters in the coming months, Gunn did at least promise we can expect major casting news within the next 6 months.

A Superman reveal at this July's San Diego Comic-Con? It seems likely.

It's an exciting time to be a fan of the DC Universe, that's for sure, and DC Studios clearly has ambitious plans for the characters who, up until now, really haven't received the treatment they're worthy of on screen. Static is a hero we'd definitely like to see make his live-action debut, but Gunn is giving nothing away for now.

@TheRationalNerd - any actor with a decent build from a streaming show is most likely the case.
