Josh Gad Hints Once Again At Him Potentially Playing the Penguin In THE BATMAN

Not much is known about The Batman film right now. Rumors have been flying around, but not much has been confirmed. However, Josh Gad himself has given a little tease on what could come.

There have been rumors in the past that suggested that Josh Gad could play the Penguin in Matt Reeves' The Batman. Nothing has been set in stone, but Gad dropped a potential big hint for this film.

Pretty interesting, huh? This playful tweet was in response to Matt Reeves comment on staying with The Batman. So, this could mean either two things. One, Josh Gad could easily just be ecstatic that Matt Reeves isn't going anywhere. Or two, he legitimately will be playing the DCEU's take on the vicious, short crime boss we all know and love. As far as we know, it's a 50/50 chance on what happens. However, Josh Gad playing the Penguin would definitely be something to think about. He's known for comedic roles, but maybe something a bit more serious and dark is in his alley too.

At this point, Josh Gad playing the Penguin is less of a question than Ben Affleck playing Batman. Although, what are your thoughts on this tweet? Leave your comments below.

Don't understand the hype around Gad. Seems to be thriving off the Frozen fame.

He needs to

I don’t recall A time when the penguin wasn’t a mixture a comic and crazy.

Here is why I don't think it will happen. When AT&T finish their purchase of WB...they are going to clean house.

Phillip Hoffman would've been perfect. R.I.P.

Doesn't Josh Gad mostly do comedic stuff? I don't see him pulling off the elegance, deceiving charm, or gangster intimidation you would expect from the Penguin. I would expect someone like Anthony Hopkins, the late Phillip Seymore Hoffman, or even Collin Firth in the role.

Hell, even if we're going with a nastier portrayal (a la Batman Returns or the Arkham games), there are better actors.

I always wanted Bob Hoskins to do it before he died. I could see Gad doing it but I’d rather someone with a cockney accent do it and I don’t see jimmy pulling that iff

@Ha1frican - I wish Joe Pesci would be considered. He's got the range to pull it off. His sinisterside can be spot.

@Krav -
Timothy Spall? He's lost a lot of weight and, incidentally, would make a great Mad Hatter.
