Kevin Feige Reacts To GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Director James Gunn Being Appointed DC Studios Boss

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has responded to the news that Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn is making the leap to the DCU to serve the head honcho of DC Studios. Check it out here...

While it would be unfair to say Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige plucked filmmaker James Gunn out of obscurity, he certainly gave the director his big break with 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy

When some "controversial" Tweets shared by Gunn years before he started working for Disney resurfaced, the studio was forced to part ways with the director. The majority online argued that it was a massive overreaction on the House of Mouse's part, and after heading to the DCEU for The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker, he was brought back into the fold for Vol. 3

That stint he spent working for Warner Bros. has resulted in Gunn now being appointed one of the heads of DC Studios, and it feels like Marvel Studios will soon have some real competition...for the first time ever.

So, is Feige feeling the pressure?

Based on comments made during yesterday evening's Black Panther: Wakanda Forever world premiere, he couldn't be any happier for the filmmaker.

"Well, he has got a lot of work to do for Marvel between now and May, which he’s well aware of," Feige says in the video below. "But after that, I’ll be first in line to see anything he does."

Gunn starts his new job on November 1, but does have to finish Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and needs to promote both that and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special for Marvel Studios. We know Feige wants all comic book movies to succeed, so doubt there's any real competition or rivalry here, and he seems genuinely happy for Gunn.

If nothing else, we'd bet on this opening the door to a Marvel/DC crossover eventually becoming a reality...

What Feige said:

What Feige meant:

From The Book of Snyder:

"And I looked and I saw a Parademon open the Seventh Seal,

A great Horseman came out and betrothed himself to a Singstress. This Prodigal Horseman who had gone over to The Enemy and worn the cloth of The Devil had married The Devil's Concubine, The Hand of The Beast and she bore him children, now he returns to his beloved and dons the robe of The Bat once more,

When you see this First Horseman wed the Holy Song Mistress and take his rightful place from the false prophet, Michael Keaton, know that the Return of our Saviour is near.

And I looked and I saw a Second Horseman, bourne upon a holy Rock, and The Rock spoketh and it said "Behold, I bringeth the Sun, I have restored the Hope of The Faithful!", and The Faithful cheered and so did the Unfaithful who follow the ways of Feige and watcheth unholy things is darkened rooms,

Know this, O Faithful, that when the Second Horseman appears in colors bright, that the end is near and the coming of Our Saviour is soon,

And I looked and I saw a Third Horseman appear with sound and the name of a great Gun and he bore the skin of a Racoon on his brow and it was he, he who has consorted with The Enemy and has had communion with the Tree that walketh with Earthly feet and has brought to life abominations in the name of the Dark Lord, now he has been set free from The Enemy and has been delivered to us by the light of Discovery,

And Safran followed after him,"

One horseman left, guys...

@ObserverIO -

I know walls of text usually intimidate users, but this is legit well-structured. Too meticulous to be seen as just some random spoof comment. Seriously, well f#ckin' done.

Gunn knows the in and outs to Marvel Studios. If you want success, he's the guy. He knows what it takes and what kind of committtes per say to make a connecting universe (if that's what DC wants). This is an overall win lol

Watch when this DCU fails to live up to expectations. Fanboys will be like, "Why can't we get quality movies and shows of all of our heroes?!"

Because your heroes suck.
ObserverIO

@BringFFtoMCU - It probably will fail.

Yes, they have couple of studio heads and yes one of the is James Gunn and they have been hired to do away with the old (Snyderverse and Walter Hamada's multiverse brand confusion) and create a new cohesive universe and a focused brand. This is all true.

How can it fail?

Easy. James Gunn does not do the above. He throws it all away. Power is distributed between DC, De Luca, Phillips and Reeves.

Two things will stop their success:

1. Gunn and Safran will not have full power over the DC brand.

2. Gunn will RestoreTheSnyderverse.

@BringFFtoMCU - "Because your heroes suck."

You don't HAVE to be an obvious DC hater but are you even aware that many of your so called beloved MCU heroes, and villains too, are a blatant copy/rip off of DC characters?

And I know there are some vice versa as well, just wondering how can someone write something like this with a normal functioning brain. 👀😬

He's one great producer who loves Comics. Any CBM studio who have employed producers who had passion to bring life to characters would have been successful. James and Safran, have that quality. Stories may sound simple, but how it connects emotionally to viewers is most important. Cause that's how viewers would come and re-watch the movie and make it successful.
