XERO: Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson Developing Live-Action Take On Christopher Priest’s DC Comic Series

Well, here's some out-of-the-blue news to kick-start your weekend. Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson’s G-Unit Film & Television is developing a live-action take on Christopher Priest’s '90s comic series, Xerø.

You may not be too familiar will Xero (stylized Xerø), but the title was one of DC's most popular comics back in the late '90s, and Coltrane “Trane” Walker is now set to make his way to the screen courtesy of Fiddy!

Deadline reports that Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson’s G-Unit has optioned Christopher Priest’s comic series for development alongside Color Farm Media as a live-action movie franchise. G-Unit will produce alongside Erika Alexander, Ben Arnon for Color Farm, and Illuminous' Joseph Illidge.

The comic focused on a Black government assassin named Trane Walker who weaponizes invisibility by disguising himself as a white man in order to blend in to the exotic Casino Royale haunts of the international elite. Apparently, this adaptation will focus on the character's "moral awakening and the life-and-death perils it presents."

There's no word on whether Jackson will also play the lead, but one would assume it is a possibly considering the rapper has tried his hand at acting on several occasions over the years.

“There’s no one better than Christopher Priest to bring G-Unit Film & Television into the world of comic book superheroes,” said Jackson. “Watch as we build XERO into a franchise alongside Christopher and Color Farm Media, I can’t wait for the world to meet Trane Walker in an all new way.”

What do you guys make of this news? Any Xero fans out there? Drop us a comment down below.

Don't see Fiddy in the role, but his unit has had a decent record in producing, at least TV shows as the "Power" universe on Starz indicates. Good to see other heroes outside of Marvel and DC, not counting what Netflix is trying to do with Mark Millar's comics. I'm open to this and will take a wait and see attitude before coming to any conclusions.

@Mugens - It is DC though.

Christopher Priest literally called Xero the "Apollo 13 of [his] career."

I’ve enjoyed the shows 50 has produced so far, it’ll be dope to see what he can help put together with a CB property.

He's as well known with GA as Iron Man was back in 2008. I'm all for giving new characters a chance. People around here are always complaining about "race bending" fictional characters. Here we have a property with a black person as a lead. No need to race bend. Plus it's not Batman. Or Joker. Or anybody from the Bat-family. (And coming from DC whose perennial cash cow is all things Bat, that's REALLY saying something.) I can't wait to give this movie a fair chance!

@BlackBeltJones - Slow start, but promising. Good to see Sikora again. Gotta admit I didn't like his character at first, but slowly became the favourite.

Out of the Power universe though, I gota say Rasising Kanan is prob my favourite. Got the most potential to be a real crime epic. .. And Patina Miller....😈

This sounds awesome, but i sadly know nothing about Xero. Any reading recommendations?

@Allabin - Any reading recommendations?

Avoid it. It was a disaster on just about every level, from script to editing to inks, coloring to (lack of) promotion. Hopefully they get to tell the story Priest and Cross intended to tell.

@Reeds2Much - Aah shit. Thanks for the heads up! YouTube explanation videos it is lol.

To be fair I heard the same thing for the Peacemaker comics and I loved that show, so fingers crossed.

Not so sure bout his acting skills and I hate that fiddy is such a troll but I'm up for seeing a comic book character built the way they're drawn in the comics.Plus an original black character not a derivative variant like Val Zod or Miles Morales is always a plus to the CBM genre

@superherodevourer - Haven't seen him in anything else but he had some surprisingly good acting chops in that Jake Gyllenhaal boxing film, Southpaw.

Can we get a damn Icon movie already? Icon is such an interesting character that’s never been explored on screen and is Superman level strong.

While DC’s moving forward with Val Zod and apparently Xero, meanwhile Icon is collecting dust on a shelf somewhere.

If not a movie, give Icon an HBOMAX series.

For all the gripes and complaints about a lack of black characters, the most obvious ones are just staring them in the face and being completely overlooked.

I wish we could have had POWERS done by the team eho brought us THE BOYS. One of the best comic runs ever and the show was mediocre albeit engaging….it could have been so much more.

Everyone commenting how good his shows are. I'm just tired of black dope boy stories already. I will also say I watched the pilot of Power and I was through. If anyone can explain why I should dive back in I'm all eyes/ears...
Conquistador
Conquistador - 2/19/2022, 3:41 AM
@Chuck420Taylor - Power was kind of a 'Drug Kingpin Soap Opera'. I wasn't fully sold when I watched season 1, but season 2 picks up and carried on strong for a bit. last couple seasons were a bit iffy.

The spin offs have been ok, especially Book 3: Rasining Kanan, though I'm still not sure Tariq is a strong lead for Book 2.

I heard For Life was decent aswell, but got cancelled.

BMF, being a true story is intriguing, but again my problem with that is the lead, as you can kind of tell he's not acted before, but is a bold choice having the real life son playing his dad. It's got promise.
