DEADPOOL 2 Actually Outscored The Original In Test Screenings; Secret Cameo Added During Reshoots

Despite recent reports that a test screening of the Deadpool sequel did not go down well, we now have a far more positive update for fans of The Merc With a Mouth, along with news of a "secret cameo"...

The first round of Deadpool 2 test screenings may not have gone down quite as well as Fox would have liked, but according to THR, the latest cut of the sequel actually scored higher than the original.

Following 6 days of reshoots last month, the studio tested two separate cuts simultaneously in Dallas. One scored a 98 and the other a 94 - not too surprisingly, the 98-scoring cut is the version they're going with.

The reshoots that took place in Vancouver were to add more of what audiences responded positively to (Cable and Domino, apparently), but the trade also mentions that two hours worth of footage was shot in Los Angeles for a secret cameo of some sort.

Who could that be? Well, it's speculation time!

@MalseMarcel - It's James Marsden as Cyclops in his iconic comicbook look.

Cable watches a news clip of the Xmen (Colossus, Negasonic, and Cyclops) apprehending an enemy and cable mentions how proud he is of his dad.

To which Wade replies "You know he was recasted right?"

Shhhhh. It's secret.

@SonOfAGif - why’d you spoil it... you son of a gif!

@SonOfAGif - While that would be funny, I'd prefer it be something along the lines of; Deadpool and co. get into a tight spot and Wade says "that's it, I'm calling for back up!" and pulls out a cell phone, we see another phone somewhere else ring and Hugh Jackman pick up and a conversation ensues with Hugh saying he's retired and not interested, and Wade begging, offering money, and insulting him to come help. It ends where Hugh gets mad, and in his Wolverine yell says "I'M RETIRED BUB!" Then hangs up and cut back to Wade putting his phone away and tells the others "He's busy right now."

@trytan - I’m betting it’s Hugh Jackman too. It won’t change the story, he was just added for a goof.

I'll laugh if it's Jackman.
Please, let it be Jackman!

@DBLACK - Jackman wearing the costume, mask and all, just so we can check this out of the list.
Maybe a joke like "in 17 years they couldn't get this done so, here you go. You're welcome. Now go away, Jimmie".

@Jaspion @DBLACK - $20 says it’s Hugh Jackman as Hugh Jackman.

To all those people writing reports about Deadpool 2 being bad and all the reshoots to change the movie

I need to start my own website and make up rumors. Only thing I have to say is "sources tell me" or "of course things can change in a month but for now they're going with..."

This is getting utterly ridiculous. It's like source wars.

@MyCoolYoung - Well the major difference there is that you're not a trade with a proven track record that doesn't actually run rumors.

But hey, have at it.

@RorMachine - while he may not be accurate about every article on this site at all, even you have to admit this has become a little ridiculous.

Half the time I feel like some rumours are literally posted just to incite the same old Marvel vs DC vs FOX vs Sony vitriolic spew that gets tossed around here like the acid Maroni threw in Harvet Dent's face (except over and over and over again) but it's all based on unsubstatiated rumour and that's what drives me crazy! What's the point?! Lol.

Anyway, I don't really know if that mini-rant was aimed at anyone or anything in particular. Sometimes I wonder: if the DCEU hadn't collapsed in on itself before it really stands on its feet (eventually), how different would this all be?
MyCoolYoung
MyCoolYoung - 3/20/2018, 4:15 PM
@RorMachine - this isn't a criticism of you, or any editor on this site. If I had a website I'd report these as well because it is comic book movie news.

This is a criticism of the many people who come up with stories and rumors with anonymous sources. Only thing you have to do is break one real story and you can, thereotically, make up rumors and it'll become instant speculation and news.

This is in sports and entertainment.

Soooo they saw the negative buzz about the bad test screenings (which may or may not have been not true) and decide to artificially generate some positive buzz about a vague super secret cameo.
