Josh Brolin will play Cable in Deadpool 2 and the actor has now shed some light on what we should expect from the highly anticipated sequel from John Wick co-director David Leitch. Asked specifically what the filmmaker is bringing to the table and what sort of impact that's had on him, he replied:

"[David] embraces what he’s very good at, which I think is very smart. There’s ton of action in it. The tease is, a guy who’s 49 years old on the cusp of 50 who got in the best shape of his life, especially exteriorly, and I was extremely disciplined throughout that whole thing. I got beat to shit on that movie. That’s all I know. I had stuntmen throwing me all over the place. I’ve got a shoulder issue, I’ve got a knee issue that I’ve got to deal with now, but we got through it. We got through it. I pushed hard and I suffered because of it."

Ouch! Brolin has clearly been put through the wringer for the movie but he's not going to have long to recover as the actor went on to shed some light on when he'll be reprising the role in X-Force

"I think [X-Force films] sometime next year or soon thereafter. It depends. It all depends. It depends on how Deadpool 2 does, but I don’t think that’s a make or break kind of deal. Drew Goddard is already involved in it. He’s into it now. I know he and Ryan were meeting. I’ve met him once, and so this is all kind of going ahead. How it goes ahead, I know that they’re preparing, and I know that it’s something that I’m set to do. When it happens they’re going to put it as fast as they can. I think Drew Goddard is doing his movie right now and then once he’s kind of wrapped up with that and this movie comes out I think we’ll be ready to start the other one."

It's a safe bet that Deadpool 2 will be a hit so X-Force happening is pretty much guaranteed at this point. This also confirms that the spinoff will be the next movie where Cable appears as opposed to Deadpool 3 but we pretty much knew that already! As for what's coming for the time-travelling mutant during his introduction to Fox's X-Men Universe, Brolin wouldn't reveal much but added:

"I'm not going to tell you how much I’m in the film, but it’s his introduction, and I think his introduction, even in the small promos and teasers that David has shown me, I think it’s a proper reveal. I think we’re not trying to hide the fact that this is the beginning of Cable and absolutely not the end. I think when you’re sensitive about how you reveal this character there’s a sense of mystery in it, so then when we finally get into X-Force, you’re going to be with this guy full blown all the time. There’s a lot to be revealed. There’s a lot to be revealed, but there’s three more movies to reveal more."

The most interesting part of X-Force is the new actor for Wolverine, who it can be?........

@789 - Is Wolverine in that movie?

@789 - Was it ever confirmed he would appear? If he does I'm going to throw in my fan pick for him and say I think Karl Urban should portray him. I think he has the right look and voice to give it a shot.

@smgmayhem - I could totally see that. I never considered Karl Urban but that's great casting.

@JizzerTron - Yeah he was great as Dredd, and the characters have many similarities that he could bring to the table.

You think X-force will bring the X-Universe together? These movies, although normally quality, have felt pretty separate since a lot of them are retconed, set in the past or set in the future. This can have characters from all series to bring it together. Cannonball from New Mutants and Warpath from DoFP on the top of my head.

@Luigi - Cannonball and Warpath are on the leaked x-force concept art

@Luigi - That would be an eXiles movie. Sure? The best thing about eXiles was seeing alternate reality versions of other Marvel characters, but in a movie format they could dial it down a bit and show different version of characters from the X universe. Age of Apocalypse characters in particular would be really cool to see. Holocaust, Nate Grey, Sinister, characters from the two different cinematic timelines, and you could visit other timelines. Like a comic accurate time line.

I'm not interested in the X-Force team with wolverine, deadpool, Psylocke and Archangel. I figured Cable would eventually become leader of the New Mutants with the new mutants film happening. Why else would Fox be introducing New Mutants and Cable around the same time? Isn't the eventual intersecting of those characters a no-brainer at this point? Plus, I could easily see a Cable solo film franchise happening. A Rambo-type genre film.

@JizzerTron - that Uncanny X-force roster and Rick Rememnder was so awesome though! But I feel ya. U prefer OG Cable militarizing the New Mutants team? That's cool too. Makes sense.

JizzerTron - 10/18/2017, 1:12 PM
@SimpleeComplex - yeah I grew up on early 90's new mutants and the original x-force team when the madness of the liefeld/McFarlane era of comics was in full swing and have a special place in my heart for it despite the lack of realistic human proportions and gratuitous violence and bosoms.

TheRealMandarin - 10/18/2017, 7:09 PM
@JizzerTron - dude Fox isnt smart enough to use the comics to help with their films,YOU KNOW THIS MAN!! Besides the mandarin isn't really a fan of that idea anyway-let the new mutants be the next generation of xmen while the x force handles the scary black ops shit with domino and phantom x

Cable is that dude. Can't wait to finally see him on the big screen

Hoping the team consists of:

Cable, Domino, Shatterstar, Warpath, Boom Boom and Deadpool.

And depends on how Deadpool 2 does? Can we not all have total confidence and move accordingly?
MakioCR
MakioCR - 10/18/2017, 3:39 PM
@TheUnworthyThor - Well Deadpool 1 almost not happen so maybe Fox not see it with 100% faith tbh.
JizzerTron
JizzerTron - 10/19/2017, 8:47 AM
@TheUnworthyThor - agreed accept for Deadpool. Not sure why they'd need 2 sword-wielding characters on the same team (deadpool and Shatterstar)
TheUnworthyThor
TheUnworthyThor - 10/19/2017, 8:51 AM
@JizzerTron - Well there's no way this is happening without Deadpool, Fox wants him in a team movie and X-Force best choice for that, but the way I see it the way this movie really separates itself from X-men visually is this the guns, blades and explosions mutant team.
JizzerTron
JizzerTron - 10/19/2017, 9:19 AM
@TheUnworthyThor - I guess there could be the opportunity to explore a rivalry between deadpool and shatterstar for who's the better swordsmith. also, isn't shatterstar pansexual like deadpool? how about that for a subplot? sexual tension between two male superheros? seems very current...
