DEADPOOL 2 Star Ryan Reynolds Wishes That Donald Glover's FX Animated Series Wasn't Canceled

When 2016's Deadpool hit theaters it was a resounding success becoming the highest-grossing film in the X-Men franchise as well as the highest-grossing R-Rated movie of all time. It was no surprise then when FX announced they would be capitalizing on the character's popularity with an animated series from Atlanta creator Donald Glover.

What was surprising, however, was when it was announced that the show wouldn't be going to series, with FX citing "creative differences" between themselves and the Solo: A Star Wars Story star. Many were understandably disappointed at this turn of events, including it seems Ryan Reynolds himself.

In a new interview with The New York Times, while promoting the upcoming Deadpool 2, the actor was asked about the canceled animated series with Reynolds calling Glover a "genius" before saying that he "would've loved to have seen what he did with that".

Not unlike Tim Miller's original Deadpool film test footage from the FX show did leak some time ago to positive response, and though most places have taken it down, I'm sure those who are eager to get a sense of just what Glover would have done with the show will be able to find it.

Deadpool 2 will hit theaters 18th May 2018

I'm sad that its not going to happen. I think if Gambino had injected some black culture into the show it would have been great. Deadpool can always pull off dealing with sensitive subjects and you cant even get mad at him. Not that all humor has to deal with sensitive or even culturally relevant subjects, but since it seems to be the trend these days what a better guy to joke about the stuff no one else will touch than Deadpool himself. Shame shame shame.

@NN1208 - someone better not let "injected some black culture into" go wasted HA So glad I re read my own comments, its like impossible not to be in the gutter these days

Count me was one of those people who like Deadpool in small doses.

It might have been good, but too of Deadpool could have just made the audience grow fatigued of him earlier than if we had just the films (that we currently do, and will have in the near and distant future).

@PrimitiveMan - I hate to admit this, but I can actually relate. I am a huge Deadpool fan all around. I also hate to say this because I try to avoid it but I read the Deadpool comics quite a wile before the movie, and yea he defiantly blew up at some point. So I fear that soon it will feel like its crapped down out throats, you could argue it almost is already there. Which is a shame because although I wanted him somewhat established before they did any sort of X - Force movie, but I think if that even happens now it will just turn into Deadpool and X Force. Or wait there doing that in 2 what am I saying. See I loved the X Force run with the grey suits, Wolvie, Arch Angel, Phantomex, Phylock etc....and I felt like as dark as that whole thing was, Deapool was the perfect comic relief, there was just enough of him it was dang near perfect in my opinion. I don't think we will get that now.
