Hope Summers Theory For Ryan Reynolds' DEADPOOL 2 Continues To Gain Traction

Will Hope Summers' story be told in Fox's Deadpool sequel? With her "grandmother" at the center of X-Men: Dark Phoenix, will Fox's X-Men Cinematic Universe start to become a little more cohesive?

Will Hope Summers' story factor into Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool 2? In the short that played before Logan, fans quickly spotted graffiti on Wade's phone booth for both Hope and Nathan Summers, aka Cable. It's possible that all the attention being showered right now on Domino and Cable is simply a calculated move to keep inquisitive minds away from the character that's truly at the center of the plot, Hope- a mutant who's destined to either destroy mutantkind or save it.

Initially, comic book fans were split on the easter egg in the short, with some arguing that fans were reading too much into things and that the word Hope was meant to be taken in a literal sense.  However, the first look at Josh Brolin's Cable has revealed that he's carrying a rather odd round of ammunition within his many straps and pockets.

In the comics, Cable travels back in time to protect Hope as she's born in a timeline when the mutant population has been decimated (sound familiar) and she's been prophesied as the catalyst to re-spark mutant births. While there's a lot more complicated details surrounding Hope's origin, things are starting to add up that she might play a factor in Deadpool 2.

There's also the fact that Hope was once a host for the Phoenix Force, just like her adoptive grandmother, Jean Grey. With X-Men: Dark Phoenix set to cover Jean's pairing with the all-powerful, primordial manifestation of life and rebirth, perhaps Deadpool 2 will serve as a pseudo prequel through Hope?

@TheRealMandarin - I think there's a deal behind the scenes that they're working on. He wouldn't just change companies like that. Go from the winning side to the terrible side without some BIG plan.

I like the theory, but it's still way too early to tell.

I think it's obvious.
Either she's in it, or on his mission to DP's timeline Cable is sidetracked by Wade's conflicts, leading into the search for Hope in 'X-Force'.

Cable: "I'm looking for my daughter"

Deadpool: "And I'm looking for a great sequel. Help me & I'll help you"

*commence 'Deadpool 2'*

DP: "We'll that was fun. Now let's go find your daughter"

C: "We might need some help"

DP: "Oh I know just the [frick]ers for the job"

*Deadpool & Cable will return in 'X-Force'*

Calling it.

Speaking of Ryan Reynolds, just got done watching Mississippi Grind, and it was OK. Kinda slow, and maybe if I was more into gambling or cards in general I could've gotten into it more. Reynolds and Ben Mendelsohn are great though.

Why is Cable's gun magazine so small for such a huge ass gun?

@LEVITIKUZ - because its from the future. All guns have tiny magazines in the future!

That seems kind of unlikely. I'm pretty sure it was just a little easter egg. But it's a possibility.
