Dan Harmon Wrote Additional DOCTOR STRANGE Scenes That Were Filmed In Post

It seems additional scenes were required after Doctor Strange initially wrapped and Community's Dan Harmon wrote them. Given Harmon's pedigree, did Marvel think the film needed more humor?

It seems that Marvel and director Scott Derrickson determined that more scenes were needed after Doctor Strange wrapped filming and a first cut of the film was assembled.  According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dan Harmon was brought on board to pen the script for these mysterious additional scenes.  Best known for co-creating Community, is Harmon's background an indication that it was determined that Doctor Strange needed more humor?

In addition to his work in TV, Harmon wrote the script for 2006's Monster House and did uncredited script doctoring on 2008's Kung Fu Panda, both animated features.

While it's logical to assume Harmon was hired to inject some humor into Doctor Strange, it's important to remember that Marvel hired Joe and Anthony Russo to helm Captain America: The Winter Soldier at a time when the biggest projects on their resume were Arrested Development and Community.  Given Marvel's history of finding talent in unrelated genres, Harmon's hiring doesn't automatically indicate that he was brought aboard Strange for the sole purpose of inserting more jokes.

Harmon joins Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill as co-writers while Jon Spaihts will receive a story credit.

Community was a fantastic show. So if this guy added anything to the movie I'm sure it's great
