Four New DOCTOR STRANGE TV Spots Released

There isn't a ton of new footage in these TV spots but we do have a few new voiceovers from the likes of Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch),  the Ancient One (Tilda Swinton), Wong (Benedict Wong) and Baron Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) which giveaway some minor plot points and jokes.

We're just two months away from the film's premiere and much of the plot remains shrouded in mystery besides the obvious elements pertaining to the Sorcerer Supreme's origin.  What exactly does  Kaecilius (Mads Mikkelsen) want to accomplish and why is it up to Strange to stop him when the Ancient One should still be the more powerful of the two at this stage?  Also, why does Mordo appear to be helping Strange against Kaecilius when he's typically depicted as his greatest villain?  Are we looking at a Mordo before he's corrupted by the presence of Dormammu?  Is Dormammu even in the film - some people believe that Kaecilius is actually in the service of Shuma-Gorath?

There's still a ton of questions and hopefully they remain 'mystery' until the film's release on November 4.

Kaecilius is quite clearly under the control of Dormammu, his burned eyes are the main factor that makes this likely. His plot seems to be tearing down the walls between realities so Dormammu can unleash evil upon the world. I expect he somewhat manages to do this at one point or another in the film enabling a Shuma-Gorath style being to attack the Sanctum Sanctorum. I expect the Ancient One will be killed off by Kaecilius at the Sanctum, forcing Strange to put on the cloak and become the Sorcerer Supreme.

Presumably Doctor Strange will defeat Kaecilius only to then have a confrontation with Dormammu in another realm. This confrontation is presumably what we have seen a small part of in the trailers, Doctor Strange using his magical shield to prevent himself being burned alive. Alternatively the confrontation with Dormammu occurs before the final battle with Kaecilius with Doctor Strange realising he cannot defeat Dormammu, so the only thing he can do is prevent his arrival on Earth.

I also get the feeling that the shot of him on the skyscraper with Mordo will have him also accompanied by Wong - however they are not wanting to show Wong at the moment because that would kind of hint towards the death of the Ancient One (As she would likely be there to help out if she was alive)

I am also thinking at this stage that part of Dormammu will inhabit Mordo after the events of the final battle. With the realities now sealed away form each other again, Dormammu having part of his being inside Mordo will enable him passage (With the help of magical items) to Earth in a sequel or something.

@Scarilian - Or the final battle is against Kaecilius and it's revealed Dormammu was controlling him afterwards, so they can keep him for the sequel. Kind of like it seems that Black Panther won't be facing Klaw in his first solo, or Spider-man fighting GG.

In phase 1, Marvel didn't have much of a choice, and were kind of forced to use the best/most recognizable nemesis for their heroes because they didn't know if it would work. Now that they do, I really want them to fight weaker villains at first and keep the iconic nemesis for the last of their solo trilogy

@MiopTop - Potentially, though that shot of Strange deflecting the flames seems like an adaptation of several shots of cartoons and in comics where Dormammu (Or admittedly someone channelling Dormammu's fire) uses the fire against Strange with him deflecting.

The mention of a scene where 'Doctor Strange confronts Dormammu' leads me to believe we'll have a small confrontation between the two with Strange managing to prevent him crossing into the realm.

I think the best way to view it is that Dormammu is a 'force of nature' - he tries fighting Dormammu but is unable to as he has not trained enough and realises all he can do is defeat Kaecilius to prevent Dormammu arriving.

Kaecilius will be the main villain because he'd get the most screentime, but Dormammu will be the main threat because he is the thing they are trying to bring through to the world. Kind of like in the Avengers where the main villain was Loki with the threat being the army.

@Scarilian - in the marvel comic book tie in it is revealed that kacilius joined the ancient one in a search for a way to bring back his dead wife and son. believing the ancient one to be hiding information from him he seemingly goes to look for a way to bring them back in their library and it's hinted he stumbles on to something that can give him what he wants.

Can we finally get this guy in the MCU!

@InfinityWar2019 - There are rumours he (Or one of his demons) is the new Shield boss in Agents Of Shield. Hence the inclusion of Ghost Rider, as this season is apparently more 'mystical' based as a partial tie-in to Doctor Strange.

@Scarilian - Has Ghost Rider ever been linked to Dormammu in the comics ?
