The Serpent Society has recently been attacking numerous CIA headquarters in search of a mysterious artifact known as the Serpent Crown. The US government has not been able to even slow down the SS, General Ross with the backing of Dell Rusk, is able to convince the US Government to create their own sanctioned super powered team to bring the SS down. Will this rag tag team be able to stop the Serpent Society or will they destroy themselves from within?
Colonel James Rhodes aka Iron Patriot: Rhodey is one of the few surviving members from the Avengers, he is chosen to lead the team. Despite his dislike for the Iron Patriot armor he decides to wear it due to Ross believing this can by the publics trust.
Dr Karla Sofen aka Moonstone: Ross reluctantly allows Karla on the team simply due to her having possession of a Kree Gravity Stone. She was given the stone by her patient Lloyd Bloch for safekeeping, so she says.
Mellisa Gold aka Songbird: Gold has been locked up in the Raft after she was captured during a raid on a AIM facility. Ross offers her time off her sentence if she joins the team.
Raz Malhotra aka Giant-Man: Ross believing he needs some brains on the team asks Raz to join the team. Raz is only convinced to join once Ross reveals he has a confiscated Hank Pym suit.
John Watkins III aka Citizen V: Watkins was placed on the team by Dell Rusk due to Dell wanting to keep a close eye on the team. Ross is not happy with the move until he learns of Watkins is the great grandson of the original Citizen V. *Watkins is really Jaques Duquesne*
Serpent Society: The Thunderbolts have been tasked with bringing down the recently revealed Serpent Society. The SS have been breaking CIA headquarters in search of a mystical artifact known as the Serpents Crown. The team is lead by Viper and consists of Copperhead, Anaconda, Constrictor, and Cobra
Everest Ross aka Thunderbolt: Ross convinces the US Government to create its own team to bring down the Serpent Society who continue to escape custody.
Dell Rusk Secretary of Defense: Rusk helps push the Thunderbolts through congress however as a condition he is allowed to add a member of his choosing.
