MCU Wolverine: Weapon X - Movie Pitch by Utopian8418

My own version of the MCU Phase 4 in which the F4 and the X-men are bought by Marvel Studios. This movie would honor Wolverine's most classic stories and the beloved character's conflicted nature.

I am creating my own version of the MCU Phase 4 in which the F4 and the X-men are bought by Marvel Studios. There would be an Inhumans movie that ends with the Terrigen Mists being released into the world, explaining mutants. The Wolverine would be the sixth movie of Phase 4. It would star Tom Hardy as Wolverine and be R rated. Here's the story:

THE WOLVERINE

The main story would be based on the 'Wolverine vs Hulk' animated movie, replacing the Hulk with Wendigo. It would open with a small plane flying over some Canadian mountains. In the dark interior of the plane, Wolverine is sitting down staring at a picture of his old lover, Mariko Yashida.

Flashback 1: 2 years earlier in Japan, Logan has been living with Mariko for a couple of months. He doesn't remember who he is, and she is teaching him samurai sword fight. There is a poster on the wall of a legendary samurai dressed in yellow, blue and black with a strange mask, and she explains to him that it is an old ancestor of her that was called the Wolverine. The mantle of the Wolverine was passed through the male members of her family but she is the only descendant left, so if they marry, Logan will don the mantle. They both think that this is BS though and they laugh, but they both know that her familiy is dangerous and part of the Yakuza. One day, as the two are calmly having breakfast, bullets start coming through the window and Mariko dies on Wolverine's hands.

With voiceover, Logan would say the classic line 'I'm the best at what I do, but what I do isn't very nice'. He would then explain he is a bounty hunter now and the Canadian government has hired him to find a beast that has ravaged a small town, killing most of its inhabitants. The plane's pilot would then tell Logan that he has found something. There is a trail of fallen trees. The back of the plane opens, and Wolverine steps out. For the first time, we can see his full body, in the classic black and yellow suit, wearing a parachute backpack. He jumps off, opens the parachute and lands. He tracks the beast through the forest, rivers and mountains, and finds a small white beast's corpse (the Wendigo's son) with a bullet wound, and understands that this motivated the attack on the village. The bullet has an X marked in it that is very familiar to Wolverine.

Flashback 2: 4 years ago, army veteran James Howlett is taken by the Terrigen Mist. He emerges with a healing factor and bone claws. He voluntarily joins Team X, a Black Ops government team composed of mutants, since killing is the only thing he knows how to do. The Team is made up of Sabretooth, Lady Deathstrike, Deadpool and Omega Red.

As he stares at the bullet, the Wendigo shows up and they have a long, cool fight. Wolverine wins. But as he stands near the defeated beast, Logan starts feeling dizzy, and as he looks around, he finds Team X approaching him, and he realizes he was struck by a tranquilizig dart. Logan wakes up on a Team X facility. Proffessor Thorton explains to him how they needed the Wendigo blood for the program, and after killing its baby, they led the beast to a village to have an excuse to bring Wolverine in. Logan passes out again.

Flashback 3: 2 years ago in Japan, Logan is weaping over Mariko's corpse. We them see some scenes with him taking on the Yakuza, and he finally finds the man responsible for the crime, Keniuchio Harada, the Silver Samurai. They have a samurai duel and Wolverine wins.

Logan wakes up again, and we get a couple of scenes between Logan and his old teammates Sabretooth, Omega Red, Deathstrike and Deadpool. Sabretooth mentions that Wolverine betrayed him, and they break Logan free in order to kill him without Thorton's knowledge. However, Wolverine is able to escape. The last part of the movie would be about Wolverine fighting Team X while breaking out of the facility. Right before the final confrontation with Sabretooth, we get the last flashback.

Flashback 4: 3 years ago, Wolverine is running missions with Team X. However Logan is growing unhappy. The final straw comes when Sabretooth is about to kill a kid. Wolverine cuts his arm off (which then grows back) and starts attacking him. Sabretooth wins the fight, and takes the defeated Wolverine's body to Proffessor Thorton in a facility in Japan. They wipe his memory and add the adamantium. Thorton says they will create a better stronger Weapon X. But Logan escapes the facility. Logan spends some time in the wild, living among wolves and eventually finds a small village, where he meets Mariko.

Wolverine finally confronts Sabretooth in an epic fight. Wolverine wins, kills Proffessor Thorton and leaves the facility.

In the after credits scene, we get to see Proffessor X contacting Logan and offering him to join the Xmen.

Not fond of the whole Terrigen creating mutants.

@MileHighRonin - I don't love the idea, but its the only way. I really want Wolverine to meet Cap, Hulk and Spiderman.

Cool ideas, but I don't really see a story here. It's just a series of events. Relies WAY to heavily on Flashbacks. Flash backs should only be used so frequently if they inform the other story, and serve as a sub plot to the main story that adds to it. While these are related to the scenes they follow, they don't further character relationships, motivations, actions, or tell us knew info we need to know for the present day story.

A good example of flashbacks used in this way are in Arrow seasons one and two. Especially two.

@kong - Well, the flashbacks with Team X would explore further the character relationships. And the flashbacks in Japan would show how Logan has evolved since he lost his memories. Also, there are movies like the Godfather II full of unrelated flashbacks. But I agree that so many flashbacks could make the movie confusing.
