More Effort From The Fan Casters Please

I posted an editorial yesterday about this and perhaps I came off a little abrasive and Galsctus was compelled to delete it. If it came out abrasive it indeed was my intention to do so.

Galactus Insert: For the record, it wasn't me--one of the other editors. I'm the one who puts this kind of stuff on the front page so all can see and learn. I will comment more at the end of this editorial.

I accomplished what I wanted to. Galactus has read my post. I will not mention any names this time but we all know who puts the hard work and efforts into the fan casts, the fan fics and the sketches. We also know the individuals who put little to no effort and just post the same fan casts over and over again.

Now Galactus you can delete me again if you wish. My feelings will not be hurt. I'm just asking for a little more effort from these individuals, so the people who put efforts posts don't get pushed to second page obsurity. We don't need anymore tweeny spider man reboot fan casts we've seen em' all. No more single person fan casts, and if people still wish to do so, at least give us some reasoning why you think said persons is your choice. Galactus I also propose to you a "trusted user" Fan Fic section where you earn your way to be able to post your fanfics. Where your hard work can only be pushed down by another trusted user who applies the same effort as yourself.

Galactus Your site is in danger of losing some very artistic people who don't want to post anything here anymore cause it just gets pushed to the second page within hours. I read all the posts everyday as I'm sure you do I'm also sure you have noticed the decrease in posts by some really cool guys here. It is no coincidence Galactus.

Galactus's reponse: Thank you Scarface for your input. You have not been the only one voicing these views lately. For that reason, I have asked all our CBM editors to step up the quality of the fan fic section. We will now be asking that fan fic contributors start obeying the same rules that we ask article writers follow. Meaning... everyone will need to use proper spelling and grammar, and provide a decent amount of content. This will hopefully get rid of a lot of the crap, and improve the quality of contributions to the section.

PLEASE READ OUR STYLE GUIDE HERE TO UNDERSTAND WHAT WILL BE ACCEPTED AND WHAT WILL BE DELETED.

AND, anyone redating old stuff so that it shows up top will find it deleted. My suggestion is to create a list of your old fan fic at the bottom of all new ones. That is acceptable.

By doing this I will expect that all you loyal fan fic aficionados alert people when they are doing it wrong, and help us spread the word so I don't get an influx of emails asking, "why was my awesome fan cast with a thousand grammatical errors and no pictures deleted?!!" We editors cannot catch everything around the clock, and many times things will get by us, or be posted online for hours before we can get to them, so your comments will help educate the offenders as to why their contributions might be deleted.

Lastly, and just FYI, the fan fic section came about all by itself. As everyone should know by now, CBM is first and foremost a news site. For that reason, we do not like to put fan fic on the main page unless it is REEAALLLY good--because it's NOT news and we don't want to confuse anyone. Usually, when there is a particularly good fan fic, fan cast, fan video, or whatever, we will categorize it as a feature. There are no plans to change CBM to accomodate the fan fic more than what we do now. Instead, we are building a whole NEW site devoted completely to fan fic. It will be a similar set-up to CBM, but all the top stories, features sections, graphics and so forth will be all fan fic. We will let you know when that is available. In the meantime, for those of you who want to thin the crowd here a bit, may I suggest doing it over at EarthsMightiest.com. It has its own fan fic section that needs help--and that site has no limitations to the type of content you can provide. As always, we appreciate everybody who contributes to our site. We feel we have a great little community going here, and we will always take your suggestions (and complaints) to heart.

Any questions, concerns, complaints, suggestions, etc. are more than welcome. The editors of the page have read everyone's complaint and feel that this is the best option to help solve some of these problems. I will be more than happy to assist anyone with any direction they need. Whether its how to upload pictures or how to spell a word and everything in between. Just to let you know. The editors of CBM are very busy people, so anything you need, please come to me, or anyone else appointed in the near future, and if neither them nor I can help you.
