Now, like most users here, I'm a huge fan of superheroes and comic books in general. As such, my love for these gave me the idea to come up with my own hero. I now present to you my idea for a superhero character: Pro-Man!

Now to start off, there won't be any pictures in this article. I would draw out some of the things I will discuss here (such as a sketch of the character itself), but quite frankly, I'm not a very good artist.

Basic description of the character:
This character is basically what I'd label as "MacGyver with a cape". His main gimmick is that he uses random objects to fight crime. He sometimes also creates things and inventions out of objects at his disposal. The character also has elements of characters such as Rorschach, Kick-Ass, and Batman. When he doesn't have anything at his disposal, he uses his mind and his cunning to get out of situations. His costume is also very simple. He wears a plain white t-shirt, yellow gloves, jeans, tennis shoes, a black cape, a black beanie hat, and a black eye mask.

Other names for the character:
Like how many other comic characters have alternate names (such as Batman being "The Dark Knight", Captain America being "The Sentinel of Liberty", or Spider-Man being called "The Amazing Spider-Man"), Pro-Man also has alternate names. He is also called "The Courageous Pro-Man" and "The Tinkerer of Truth".

Origin of character:
Basically, Pro-Man's real name is Stan Stevens, a geeky college student. He lives in an apartment with his best friend, Charlie. Stan lives in a city where the crime-rate is very high. He's a good-hearted individual, and wants to help, but he doesn't because he's afraid of getting hurt. There is an explanation for all of this, however. There was once a point in time when Stan was walking through the city at night, and he spots a woman getting mugged. She begs him to help her, but out of cowardice, he runs away. He then sees in the news the next morning that the woman was killed. He now feels major guilt out of not helping the woman. Later on, at another point in time, he sees another crime going on. Not wanting to repeat his mistake, he tries to actually help out this time, but ends up getting hospitalized in the process. Now, whenever something bad is going in his city, he feels a major need to help out, but doesn't because he's afraid of getting hurt again. Stan always talks with Charlie about it, but Charlie always tries to convince him that it's best he stays out of these things.
Stan develops a crush on this girl named Molly. Molly has this ass-hole boyfriend named Rick Reynolds. Rick always treats her like trash. One day, Stan, seeing Rick treating her badly again, gets the courage to stand up to Rick, but ends up getting beat up in the process. Feeling bad, Molly helps him. Eventually, this sparks a friendship between the two. One night, Stan heads to Molly's place to hang out with her, but hears noises coming from her window. He listens in, and realizes it's Rick abusing Molly again. Feeling the need to physically do something now, he feels that he's had enough of all the bad things that goes on in his city, and rushes back to his apartment and gathers anything he can find. This is where he creates the costume out of some old Halloween stuff he finds under his bed, and anything else he feels like he can use. Eventually, he gets back to Molly's place, and sees Rick dragging Molly outside. Stan, in costume, confronts Rick and fights him off. This causes Rick to run away (Rick actually becomes a super-villain down the road). Stan then brings Molly back inside her apartment, and she thanks him for saving her (at some point down the road, Molly gets the courage to break up with Rick and starts dating Stan). This sparks an idea in Stan's head to fight crime in his city. Eventually, he comes up with the name "Pro-Man" and vows to stop crime using his arsenal of random objects he has at his disposal.

Other characters:
Mikey Stevens/Slick: Stan's younger cousin. He, at one point, becomes Pro-Man's sidekick, Slick! His costume consists of a yellow t-shirt, white gloves, jeans, tennis shoes, light blue cape, light blue eye mask, and a light blue backwards baseball cap.

Villains:
This is a few ideas for villains in Pro-Man's rogues gallery.

Edward Winters/The Trash Master: Pro-Man's most prominent foe (aka his Joker or his Green Goblin). He's a garbage man who creates robots and other assorted inventions out of garbage. He's a former scientist who gets fired from his job and eventually goes broke. Having no other alternative, he takes up a garbage man job. Feeling angered at the way his life has turned out, he turns to a life of crime as "The Trash Master". He wears a brown garbage man suit, wears round goggles on his head, has a goatee, and carries around a large wrench. I also thought about making him connected to Stan somehow (like maybe Stan's father is the reason Edward lost hi scientist job in the first place).

Rick Reynolds/Mind-Matter: A student that Stan went to college with, and Molly's ex-boyfriend. He gets caught in a campus lab explosion and develops telekinetic abilities. He wears a black business suit, has dark circles around his eyes, and has a large scar on his forehead.

Steve Stanley/Con-Man: As you probably guessed from the name, Con-Man is essentially the evil version of Pro-Man. He wears basically the same costume, except he has a black t-shirt and a white cape, beanie cap, and eye mask (basically, the opposite color scheme of Pro-Man). I haven't figured out a specific origin for him, yet. I was thinking he could either be from an alternate universe or he was created when Pro-Man got hit with negative energy.

Other tidbits:

- You're probably wondering why the character is named "Pro-Man". Well, I named him that because he's "pro", aka "good". I originally also considered the name "Junkie Man", but I thought that made him sound like a drug addict lol.

- I actually wrote out a script for a movie based on the character. Of course, when I wrote it, I had a $200 budget in mind, so I'd like to flesh it out more.

What do you guys think? Do you like my idea? Dislike it? Have any suggestions on how I could possibly improve some things? I would love to hear what you guys think! Thank you so much for reading!

I like it. Do you have any photos or drawings for the costumes?

@Hero2719 These are drawings I did in Paint of Pro-Man and Con-Man. They're not very good, but I think they give a basic idea of what the characters would look like.

Maybe Pro-Man and Super Yoss could team up to fight crime together lol

@Rockerdude22:

Hey, I was thinking about this. What if he has a black bullet-proof chest? Something like this:

@Hero2719 That's not a bad idea at all, since it would give him extra protection. But, the point of the character is that he uses random/everyday objects and his cunning to fight crime. I feel like using body armor like that would kind of defeat the purpose of the character. Just my opinion, though.

@rockerdude
I understand. What if instead of a bulletproof vest, a big black trenchcoat.

@Hero I actually really like that idea! Not sure if I'll give Pro-Man the black trench-coat, but I like the idea of a character having one! Maybe I'll create another villain for him who wears the trench-coat...
