Superman: The Last Son of Krypton

Superman: The Last Son of Krypton

This is my idea for a reboot of Superman. I've got cast and sort of a synopsis.

This my story concept:

It starts with the opening credits with the song "Kryptonite" by 3 Doors Down playing just to let the audience know that this is not like any other previous Superman. While the opening credits are playing, we are going through the galaxy, similar, but not the same as, the beginning for Superman Returns.

Eventually we reach Krypton, specifically Kandor. Kandor is in ruins because General Zod has just taken over the capitol with his armies and his lovely bride, Faora, and his silent henchman, Nam-Ek. Unfortunately, the council has been relocated to Argo, home of the resistance leader's Zor-El and Jor-El. Zor-El is the military leader while Jor-El is the chief scientist and tactician. Zor-El is now leading a group of soldiers to take the city back. In a spectacular action scene we seen them succeeding. Zor-El eventually captures Faora and Nam-Ek but must fight Zod in hand-to-hand combat. Zod succeeds in killing him but is quickly subdued. Zod and his compatriots are imprisoned while the pompous Council decides what to do. Jor-El suggests that the spilling of blood end and suggests that the council uses the phantom zone, a device he constructed with his artificial intelligence program he made, the Brain Inter Active Construct (Brainiac). The council agrees and Jor-El imprisons them, while Zod swears revenge.

A montage scene then plays of Krypton rebuilding and Jor-El meeting Lara, marrying her, and then having a son they name Kal-El. Jor-El also learns of Krypton's red sun's impending implosion. He works with Brainiac and finds a solution, but before Jor-El goes in front of the council, Brainiac steals all of his and Kandor's data, effectively stealing Kandor. Jor-El still approaches the council, but they dismiss all he says due to how his creation crippled their city. Jor-El and Lara then decide to build a ship and all of the data they can still find as well as their infant son are put into the vehicle. Jor-El decides to send him to Earth, since he has visited there before and he will not look different. He also has a cloaked observation post in the Arctic and gives that. They then give him some final parting words and sends him away while Krypton falls apart. Jor-El and Lara embrace while the planet falls apart...

Baby Kal-El lands in the Kansas town Smallville. He is found by Jonathan and Martha Kent, a young, kind couple who raise him as their own. Clark eventually reaches high school and he is dating Lana Lang and is best friends with Pete Ross but Clark's powers are beginning to manifest. His parents tell him how they found him and Clark leaves in a rage because he felt they should have told him sooner. Jonathan Kent then has a heart attack that night. Clark rushes to the hospital, but he is too late. Clark finishes high school mourning and decides when he graduates that he will travel and find himself. Martha then tells him about the other items in his ship and these take him to the observation outpost, his "Fortress of Solitude". Clark then meets a hologram of his father and Jor-El teaches Clark all he needs to know.

Meanwhile, in the city of Metropolis, we find out that Brainiac has taken over the conscience of the main scientist at Luthor Corp, Milton Fine. He his discoveries have made Luthor Corp the biggest company in the world. Lex Luthor enjoys the profits and is loving it. Lex is not a bad guy, he is more of a Tony Stark that never decided to uphold justice. He is very eccentric, brilliant, and in a position of power where he might have to bend the rules a little to make a profit. He extremely enjoys his top of the world status, however.
In the Daily Planet, we meet their star reporter, Lois Lane. (this introduction should have the song "Holding out for a Hero" by Frou Frou). We learn that she was in a relationship with fellow star reporter, John Corben. She is trying to keep it platonic but John is trying to win her back. His plans are interrupted by the arrival of a new reporter Clark Kent. Now donning glasses he looks different but his personality swoops Lois off her feet. They enjoy a working relationship like in the TV show Smallville. They are partners and are also partnered with clumsy photographer Jimmy Olsen and work for editor Perry White. John instantly dislikes him and does not hide it. John is a nice guy but not too nice. What happens next will push him off the deep end.

John is hit by car and it is fatal. At the hospital he is declared dead but what actually happens is Milton Fine takes him as a test subject for his cybernetics program, which Milton Fine is actually using to create a more sufficient body for Brainiac. Lex disapproves of how he was not informed but gives Fine the go-ahead.

Lois is a little too curious for her own good. She finds out about a plot to blow up one of the buildings in Metropolis and she is then taken hostage. The terrorists make their demands and when Clark realizes that he must reveal his new identity. In a stunning scene, Clark (in Superman uniform, but this time the uniform looks more like ceremonial Kryptonian armor) fights the terrorists but they still blow up the building and Superman finds Lois and saves her and the bystanders from the exploding building. Immediately this hits the papers and Lex is furious. No one cares about him anymore. The big guy in town is now this "Superman".

That night, Superman visits Lois and he is interviewed by her but eventually they take to the skies and he shows her all of Metropolis. They then kiss up in the clouds.

When Lex reads Lois's article, he triangulates Krypton's position and discovers that their power source for Project: METALLO is actually remnants of Superman's home world. Before he can triangulate where Superman landed and where he most likely is from, John Corben, now METALLO, breaks out because the shock of finding out he is virtually a machine and his kryptonite heart drives him insane. While he breaks out, he pushes a janitor named Rudy Jones into a bunch of chemicals, which begin to transform him...

Superman then goes to stop METALLO because METALLO believes that this is all Clark's fault. After a long action scene, Superman eventually takes out the kryptonian heart. Superman realizes that Luthor Corp built him and vows to stop him. Lex fires Dr. Fine and he leaves, but at Fine's apartment, you find out he has already constructed a new robotic body and has almost finished a phantom zone projector...

I haven't quite worked out the plot and ending but that is what I have so far. And now, here is the cast:

Matt Long as Clark Kent/ Superman I liked him in Ghost Rider and he looks fairly charismatic in The Deep End and I think he would be the right person to portray Superman in my representation.

Rachel Bilson as Lois Lane
I liked her character in Jumper and I've researched her a little and I think she is an amazing actress and perfect for the role(her looks don't hurt either). I think I am most proud of her than my other cast members.

Eric Bana as Lex Luthor
I loved him in Hulk and Star Trek and whatever else he has been in and I think he could perfectly bring Lex to life as the quirky, eccentric character i imagined.

Alison Carroll as Mercy Graves I didn't mention her in my synopsis because I am not sure how to introduce or use her, but i definitely want the character. Alison Carroll is the model for Lara Croft and should play the character like that.

Sam Worthington as John Corben/METALLO
This may cause some controversy, but i loved his performance in Terminator Salvation. His portrayal as a good guy who got screwed is something I want him to carry with him to this role.

Thomas Kretschmann as Milton Fine/Brainiac
This may seem like an odd choice but i think he could play a really good Milton Fine and have a good voice for Brainiac.

Neal McDonough as Rudy Jones/Parasite
I referenced this in my synopsis because he would be more of a cameo and fit in later. But he is such a talented actor and wanted him in a comic book movie and this seemed to fit him best.

Hugo Weaving as General Zod
This may not be a big role but would obviously be used for sequels. Hugo Weaving is such a talented actor and if you are going to replace Terrence Stamp, he is the man for the job.

Jolene Blalock as Faora
Jolene Blalock is no stranger to cold but strong female characters. There may be a significant age difference but she is too perfect for the role I could not ignore her.

Jamal Duff as Nam-Ek
I'm sorry, but i couldn't find a better picture for him. But anyways, he was in Dodgeball and his height and presence is all that is really necessary since Nam-Ek is a mute.

Anton Yelchin as Jimmy Olsen
Anton Yelchin is one amazing actor. He could be the new Shia LaBeouf. All he needs for this part is to mesh Chekov and Kyle Reese and he is golden.

Alan Arkin as perry White
I love Alan Arkin. He is so funny and i love every part he plays. He would make a great Perry White and I hope he gets cast.

Clint Eastwood as Jonathan Kent
Clint Eastwood is such an amazing actor and he could bring so much to this character if he would do it.

Meryl Streep as Martha Kent
Meryl Streep proved she could be a spunky mother in Mamma Mia (my sisters made me watch it) and can still be a kind mother figure as well.

Jeremy Irons as Jor-El and Winona Ryder as Lara
Jeremy Irons has proved he can be a good father figure and Jor-El needs to have a big actor in order to bring him right to the big screen. I loved Winona Ryder as Spock's mom so she seemed like a natural fit.

Well, that's it. I may add more in the future but tell me what you think. Be nice, though, since this is my first article.

Long is way too young looking and small for Superman.

Bilson sucked the big one in Jumper, and I don't find her amazingly attractive.

Bana would be an awesome Lex.

Haven't seen Carroll act, does she even act LOL?

I like Worthington, was mediocre in Terminator but great in Avatar, don't know if he'd play another human/robot hybrid again. I would like Keifer Sutherland.

Decent Brainiac.

Cool Parasite.

Weaving is the perfect Brainiac, but he'd be a fine Zod, though I prefer Clive Owen or Rufus Sewell.

Yelchin would be a great Jimmy as would Eastwood as Kent.

The rest are okay, though I don't know if Irons and Ryder would look good as a couple. Jor-El and Lara should be closer in age IMO.

Not bad. Weaving would be an amazing Zod and Bana would make a pretty devious Luthor. Very nice. The story is also pretty good. I prefer Gerard Butler for Zod and Billy Zane as Luthor though, but your choices were great!!!

I was wanting to have Emil Hamilton but I left that open for sequels as the replacement for Milton Fine. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for Zor-El, Lana Lang, or Pete Ross and any suggestions for the plot and resolution. Any idea for sequels would be helpful too.

@LEEE- He'd make a great Hawkman but he'd kick-ass as Zod ;)

Cool cast dude.

Your Supes pick is good for a younger take on the Superman mythos. It could really work though. he was good in Ghost Rider.

I think your Lois pick would be too much like the girl in Returns. Dont get me wrong shes hot, but I dont think she has the spunk for Lois.

Bana would be killer as Lex. He does evil great and could eaily pull off Lex.

Your graves pick is good too. She looks bad ass enough to run with Bana.

I understand where you're coming from with Worthington, but i think he is better for other things.

Dont know much about your Braniac pick. But he could probably do it.

Neil is better for Captain Cold. He could do well as a crook turned evil villain though.

Hugo Weaving should be Braniac.

The rest are all good choices. They could all really work out in a movie.

@LEE-Eastwood said he wasnt acting anymore before. Then he did Million Dollar Baby and Gran Tornino. I'm pretty sure he'll be back.

Dude solid cast. If you can check out my Superman story and casting for an older take of the Superman story.

@BatmanKnight thanks for your feedback and I'll look into your idea as well. My version of the character would be to have her more like from Smallville but she might be more like Superman Returns. If it seems that way, I didn't intend it to.

@Anil Rickly I read it. It was pretty good! I don't like how you kill Perry White and make Metallo a terminator, but i do like the idea of an epic and incorporating the ideas that have been said about a Superman Returns sequel

I think that the Lois you pick looks too pretty to be a bad ass in a movie like Superman. Superman and Lois look pretty young too.

I responded to your comment on my Superman story by the way.
