The Top Choices for the role of Wolverine

The Top Choices for the role of Wolverine

..........After Hugh Jackman is done of course.

Don't get me wrong, I love Hugh Jackman's interpretation of Wolverine. But if they rebooted the character today, these would be my top choices for the role. As soon I get time, I am going to make an MCU connected X-Men that follows the original comics, with a separate but related Wolverine story that will fit together as the story lines collide at a pivotal point.

These are in no particular order except for number one.

Joel Edgerton- Born June 23rd, 1974/ 5'11"(1.80 m)

Joel Edgerton is a rising star. He has a rugged sensibility about him that conveys a tough attitude to the audience. In addition to his acting prowess, He has a buff physique that would fill out in the yellow Kevlar almost as well as Hugh Jackman has for the last 13 years.

Jon Bernthal- Born September 20th, 1976/ 5'10"(1.78 m)

Known mostly for his role as Shane Walsh on the hit AMC drama, the Walking Dead, Jon Bernthal has made a name for himself in the Comic Book genre. He certainly isn't the biggest guy, but he mas muscle mass, which is the only amount of size you need for Wolverine, as he is only 5'3". He's not my first choice, but he would certainly suffice as Logan.

Christian Kane- Born June 27th, 1974/ 5' 9" (1.74 m)

Known mostly for his role on the TNT show Leverage, Christian Kane has been a fan favorite for the role for many years. His look is ideal for the deadly assassin/superhero.

And for my number one choice...................Drum Roll please..........

Tom Hardy- Born September 15, 1977/ 5' 10"(1.78 m)

For the role of Wolverine, Tom Hardy has it all. The look, height, muscle, and the comic book movie experience. I can imagine him chomping down on a cigar while bantering with Tony Stark.

As for his costume, I have always been partial to the Alex Ross design.

As a matter of fact, all of the X-Men's costumes will be based off of his designs.

Nope to every actor in there...they are even too handsome for wolverine...next time we need someone that can resemble the beastly wolverine
And for the sake of Howard the Duck, wolverine is short, we need someone short!

Oh and in the drawing, wolverine looks like he have a pussy!

Why does everyone want the comic suit (yellow/blue/black) to be in a movie? It would look absolutely pathetic in a movie. Hell, I even hated it back in the days when I read comics or watched the animated TV shows (always thought it looks pathetic as hell) and nothing changed about that. Wolverine would lose all respect and alphaness with that totally over the top costume.

inb4 hate and rage

Somebody draws Logan with the exact same nose as Jon bernthal, but I can't think of who right now. It's driving me nuts.

I never said I wanted him to be 5'3".

I just want somebody smaller than Hugh Jackman.

Good job, I would choose Jon Bernthal. But if marvel did this then Hugh Jackman would be replaced by Don Cheadle. Lol ;-)

omg can you imagine that.

Cheadle would act the shit out it, though. Within five minutes you'd believe Wolverine was always a black dude.

It was either John Cassaday or Frank Quitely I was thinking of that draws Logan a whole hell of a lot like Bernthal. This isn't either of those guys:

I like that Bernthal isn't pretty. He's close to 40, though.

Bernthal. Use some forced perspective on him and he'd be perfect.

Just because.

RexDartEskimoSpy: That must be Cassaday.

I've always been rooting for Kane, but the fact that I've yet to see that much of him renders me unable to make any decision. And Bernthal...yes, I've always managed to find similarities between him and Logan in The Walking Dead. The height, though? Well, forced perspective can take care of that, et cetera. (Although that wouldn't make him as short as the comic book Logan, but I doubt anyone would care so much about it either, as long as he actually looks shorter.) Yes, Tom Hardy isn't in my list because he's been Bane, but I do want to see him as an actor in more movies outside of this genre.

But all in all, I wouldn't have my hopes high, because Fox most likely won't let go off the X-Men property in a short time span. And when that finally happens, maybe all of these guys would already be too old for the role. (But well, Logan's like 200 years old, after all!) That's all I can say perhaps, but I'll surely keep my fingers crossed.

KANE is just about the right height
and he's got the demeanor down pat!

BERNTHAL has the intensity and looks like the
grungier drawings of LOGAN.

HARDY is too over-used in CBM'S.
He's a damn excellent actor, let him do other
more dramatic parts. He's too "BIG" for
WOLVERINE.

EDGERTON just does not "FEEL" like LOGAN
and he doesn't look anything like him.
But he is an amazing actor!

I don't think anybody wants a 5'3" LOGAN,
I know I don't!
CHRISTIAN KANE is the perfect height in my mind.
(5'7" - 5'9", which is the range of sizes he's been
listed at over the years.) He's shorter than
BETH REISGRAF who is the blond on the now canceled
LEVERAGE on TNT, she's 5'9".

KANE is short but he gives off the feeling he could
take down even giants!

Thanks for the input guys.

I definitely don't want a 5'3" Logan either. But any of these guys are short enough.

I want Tom Hardy because he would own the role.
