I watched 17 Again last night and really enjoyed it. I have never seen the HSM movies and had a bias against Zac but he really impressed me as an actor.
I am guessing this is a controversial choice of actor but I do believe he has the skills and the look.



I think Efron could do a great job as Steve Rogers.

Thanks! I agree with Leee than Jensen Ackles is a great choice. Possibly even the best.
But in case Ackles is busy, Efron might be available! He would be 23 by the time they started filming; I don't think that's too young.

i think you make some good points but we do have to bare in mind who has already signed onto the avengers, Sam J as Fury, Downey as IM, Hemsworth as Thor, not sure he would be able to command them on screen, he simply doesn't have the presence. He may command the high school masses thats why they keep casting him in that enviroment, but i dont think he could handle the three guys that i've mentioned. But it is nice to see people throwing another name into the hat for the discussion.

Are you joking?! This is a joke, right? PLEASE tell me you're joking! I know Disney ownes Marvel now, but c'mon! This is CAPTAIN [EXPLITIVE]-ING AMERICA, for god's sake! Efron doesn't have the stature, skills or talent to pull off Cap (or any other major character that doesn't appeal to pre-pubescent females). He's not an actor, he's Disney PRODUCT! Unless the Big D decides to do 'High School Musical - The College Years', I forsee Mr. Efron QUCKLY fading away into oblivion...

If I saw this article yesterday, I would have responded in a similar fashion. But after seeing 17 Again, I was impressed.
@Face- I get what you mean about him not being able to hold his own against Downey Jr et al. maybe your right. But if we can past the HSM nonsense, he does seem to exude charisma.
When I first saw pic of Chris Pine as Kirk, I thought 'hell no! That pretty boy?' But my God he was charismatic. Could be the same with Efron.
Ackles looks more appropriate, certainly. But the only thing I've seen him act in was My Bloody Valentine and I was not impressed. Perhaps not the best movie to judge him on though ;)

Invalensname watch Ten Inch Hero. My Bloody Valentine sucked as a movie in general. I don't think it was Ackles acting over all that was bad it was what he was given in the script that FAILed.

I [frick]ing HATE Zac Efron, sorry man but I would kill the casting director who decided to ruin my childhood, besides he's a Disney actor, no "actor" (if you could call them that) who comes from Disney will have any sort of future, Efron has already sealed his fate, he will forever do shitty Disney movies until he starts getting wrinkles then you'll never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever EVER hear of him again guarentee ya, besides 17 again was a terrible movie....i was forced to watch it....girlfriends suck that way.....seriously though Zac Efron? That's not charisma he exudes thats the thing he lets loose to get prepubescent girls horny.

I will reserve my judgement on this until after I see 'Me and Orson Wells' next year. It is an Indy film and it got outstandign reviews at the Toronto IFF and at the Woodstock Film Festival. So if he can pull off a decent performance in that I will give him a shot in a CBM casting, but not nessasarily Cap.

Im sorry but I hate this choice - firstly he looks like a girl and secondly he looks like the weedy Cap before he took the serum - I cant even imagine this guy as Bucky either, lol!!! Ackles for Cap all the way! :)

I don't know that he's old enough either or looks right in general but I would ask all the haters out there how many of you have actually seen any of his movies? HSM sucks but not because of him. 17 Again was really funny and with a shitload of awesome scifi references. He's not a Disney actor. He's just an actor and a pretty good one at that.

@Ryden. I read the book it was based off of and he is going ot need some acting balls to pull some of the stuff in it off.

I will be seeing it mainly because I am an avid Orsen Welles fan.

So I'll give the kid the benefit of the doubt, for now.

I knew people would react like this. But I would've too. The more I think about it, the more I think its a good idea. But people would be rather irrate evidently if this ever happened!
