Ideal FANTASTIC FOUR reboot??

With the reboot of Marvel's First Family coming sooner or later. Here are my ideas for the FF reboot & the sequels!

I'm pretty sure that most of us by now have seen Marvel's The Avengers(great movie by the way!) Based on the success of The Avengers, you can be sure to see even more CBM soon. Some new ones might be in development, and others that have been "in development" for awhile. The new FF reboot has been in development for awhile(since '09) by FOX. We all remember the FF movies in 2005 & 2007, and they weren't well received to say the least. Ever since it's been announced that FOX will reboot the FF, we've heard only little bits & pieces of news every now & then. The latest, is that Josh Trank MAY develop the FF reboot. Here are some ideas for the next FF movie:

1.They should EXPLORE:
The FF have saved the world(many times!) but what they're known for is being adventurers. Have them explore the Microverse, Subterranea, The Negative Zone, and etc. Have them explore the unknown, have them learn to work together as a team & fight for their lives to get out of these strange places, and then near the end-have them protect the city/world. That would show that they're superheroes...and explorers.

2.Save Dr. Doom for the sequel:
Doom is not only the FF's arch-foe but he's a heavyweight in the Marvel Universe. Doom has fought heroes like the FF, X-Men, Spider-Man, and even The Punisher. I think FOX should take a note from Batman Begins & The Dark Knight(which it seems they're doing that) and save Dr. Doom for the sequel. In the sequel, make him more like his comic counterpart, and have him launch the Baxter Building into space.

3.Base it on the Stan Lee, Jack Kirby/John Byrne/Jonathan Hickman runs on the FF:
Those runs had great stories and moments in the FF. The film should be inspired by those great runs of the FF.

4.Importantly-A GREAT cast & DIRECTOR that gets it!:
Got to have the right people to bring the Fantastic Four to life. Especially a director! I liked Chronicle, good movie, not sure if Trank can handle a big movie like this but who knows.Obviously a great script is needed. Maybe Ashley Edward Miller & Zack Stentz(Thor, X-Men: FC) should write it. They even said they would be interested in writing a FF movie.

Those are some of my ideas to make a good FF. Now here is how the series should go:

1st movie: Tell the FF origins in the opening credits.Should take place not too long after they've acquired their powers. Reed discovers the Negative Zone, and encounters Annihilus. The FF have to fight for their lives to get out. Near the end, the FF have to stop our world from merging with the Negative Zone....or the Annihilation Wave from destroying our world(but that's similar to The Avengers).

2nd movie: the FFs first encounter with Dr. Doom. This movie gets to know Doom's character & his history with Reed. Also, Launch the Baxter Building into space.

3rd movie: Earth is caught in between a war with the Kree & the Skrulls( are the Kree & the Skrull like Quicksilver & Scarlet Witch, in which FOX AND Marvel can use them??)

Make a Silver Surfer spin-off, and explore his origin THEN a 4th FF movie would deal with the Silver Surfer & Galactus(No cloud).

Those are my ideas for the FF movie series. Ultimately, it would be best if Marvel Studios did all this because I still feel that FOX is only doing a reboot is to get money(and there is money to be had with this comic book movies). I just hope they finally get it right this time.

Tell me your thoughts on a FF movie!

I agree, exploring the other dimensions and planets are vital. Plus, I think it's important that the Fantastic Four be diplomats for Earth. That'll be their role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe-- Ambassadors.

Origin story needs to be established in the first movie of how they gained their powers in the first place and also them trying to control their powers but using it for good which can all be established like in the beginning half of the movie, and then encountering Annihilus for the 1st movie setting up an after end-credits scene with Dr. Doom showing up to set up the sequel

For the sequel you can have Dr. Doom as the main villain and explain his history with Reed, and how the FF have to come together to defeat Doom and then after all is said and done, you can have Reed and Susan finally get married in Part 2 near the end, and then afterwards setting up an after end-credits scene again, this time with Kree and Skulls to set up Part 3

Part 3 you can have the FF go up against Skrulls and Kree for the better part of the movie and then after both are defeated, you set up towards a 4th movie with Silver Surfer

I actually like this formula you have suggested

But for the reboot, you need a good writing team as well as a good director, because we don't want this franchise going to hell again

Since Fox has the film rights. And since X-Men: First Class was a success. I'm interested in a 1960s Space Race-set Fantastic Four. Might as well get a different take on the character before Disney (hopefully) reacquires the rights.

Love the way you setup the trilogy! I'd really like the idea of the origin playing out through the opening credits, but I also think it should be interspersed throughout flashbacks in the first movie and somehow be connected to the main plot (kinda like Batman Begins).

Nice write up. So much potential for Fantastic Four. I actually did not think the first two FFs were as terrible as many people did, but then again I was not an FF fan as kid and I went in with low expectations.

BTW, are you Marvel 72's kid?

I would rather Fox give up and let the rights go back to Marvel. the F4 have a lot of good villains that belong in the MCU, especially since the MCU is going cosmic. The cosmic side of the Marvel Universe just doesnt feel right without Galactus.

@ justanotherfilmgeek

Yeah, because there's never been a good F4 story that didnt involve Doom....

Thats like saying you cant have a Batman story without involving Joker to some extent. Ridiculous.

I like your ideas, but honestly, for the first movie I say Skrulls. Just personal preference, but Annihlus would be cool too. I wouldnt get mad seeing him. I like saving Doom. And please, NO PRETTY BOY EMO DOOM. I like the actor who played him, and he did the best he could, but he was never the right choice. But all in all, I like this idea.

You know, I don't think a lot of people are interested in a Fantastic Four reboot, or any adaptation of the famous superheroes. A while back, I had this idea that since Fox owns F4 completely, and because at least 50% of the non-fan moviegoers don't know about this... why not depict the Fantastic Four in a period film. Have it set during the space race in the 60s where it began.

Consider how much (or in this case, how little) the characters have evolved since then; how usually when another character crosses over, they are the ones absorbed in the world of the Fantastic Four and not the other way around; and just how far from reality their comics are.

I especially agree with #3. Like CornDog said though, it might as well just revert back to Marvel. Great article never-the-less.

I like your enthusiasm and I can tell you're a fan. I like saving Doom for part 2 and the adventurers aspect, but I'm not keen on your trilogy idea. Definitely no to Annihilation Wave, that's for Marvel to toy with if they want, not for Fox to [frick] up and reduce in scale. I'd rather they stayed out of the Negative Zone until(if ever) they're back with Marvel. I'd also like them to avoid Namor, the Kree, and the Skrulls. Instead, use Molecule Man in part 3.

All studios do reboots (and films in general) to make money.

Marvel87, buddy if Marvel ever got the rights back I can think of nothing other than Negative Zone exploration and Annihilus intro(establish him, defeat him, but leave room for him to reappear) for part 1. Doom and Namor for part 2 which writes itself if you've read the comics, and Skrulls in some capacity for 3 with Super Skrull, or [frick] it go epic and DO Kree/Skrull war and give us both Super Skrull, Ronan, and if they can, introduce Captain Marvel. But to reiterate, so long as Fox has FF, I'd rather Negative Zone, Namor, Kree/Skrulls all go untouched by FF.

A FF movie can easily be made without dr doom, he is like the green goblin of this superhero franchise, a tough, well known and iconic villain yes, but in the comics doom doesn't come till later anyways. Base the reboot off the first couple issues and bring in silver surfer and galactus eventually. The only logical reason for a reboot now is to assimilate the FF into the marvel cinematic universe which in my opinion would be freakin awesome. A darker and more serious put on the team would be a force to recond with not to mention a huge box office hit. Civil war on screen would kill!! Nuff said

I want to see a bomb Doom origin, a bit like Magneto's in XFC. I want him to be the character you almost want to root for!

I want Clive Owen to play Dr. Doom and Robert Patrick to play Nathaniel Richards.

Telling their origins in the opening credits would be a good way to go. Most people know how they have their powers. No need to spend an hour explaining that portion of their history.
