Michael B. Jordan Addresses FANTASTIC FOUR Rumors

These rumors just won't end. Casting details for The Fantastic Four which included such names as Kate Mara (Iron Man 2, House of Cards) and Richard Madden (Game of Thrones) in the running for potential roles also revealed that Jordan was/is currently the only actor locked in for the reboot. Fox and director Josh Trank have yet to officially announce his inclusion with the project, but sitting down with Access Hollywood, Jordan sure seems to know more than he's telling.

“I can’t even — you know how it is in the industry! I can’t talk [about it] - it’s still up in the air, I just can’t. It’s one of things where, certain people start talking too soon and then what if it doesn’t happen for whatever reason? Then I’m the guy who was out there talking about something that coulda, shoulda, woulda, but didn’t. It’s not just about that role — I think times are changing. It’s 2014, Comic books in general were established when we didn’t have civil rights, for the most part. So there weren’t a lot of comic book characters who were geared towards us, period. We weren’t the market that comic books were made for in the beginning. But as times change and things move on, I think us as a people need to evolve as well in our thinking and not be so narrow-minded. So, if not me, if not this project, [if it’s] someone else in another character, I wouldn’t be mad at that at all.”

Jordan was then directly asked if he would like to play The Human Torch,

“I would like to play a character, that may or may not be written for myself, that might look like me.”

Principal photography for The Fantastic Four is scheduled to begin on March 31, while set to be released on June 19, 2015.

"So there weren’t a lot of comic book characters who were geared towards us, period." This.

"But as times change and things move on, I think us as a people need to evolve as well in our thinking and not be so narrow-minded."

And this.

I'm sure he stays up at night, just wondering what you think of him. Your words will hurt him so much, that he might just jump off of his wallet and kill himself!

If the biggest controversy of this reboot is Jordan's casting, then this movie will be VERY lucky.

Hows about he plays Dr. Doom? Or Susan Storm? Mole Man?

TBH you're starting to look like the racist jackass right now. No one is even recognizing/ replying to your comments but you keep on replying with "frick this frick that"

And you said Marvel catered towards characters that were non-white back in the 60s? Oh yeah? Name 5. Oh btw, there are more races than just white and african-american.
Where are all the Latino, Asian and Middle-eastern heroes? They were all created in the 60s right?
Give me a break.

Netman, you're the racist one.

"the Human Torch is white because his blood sister is white, and his blood sister is Sue Storm, the mother of the Marvel universe, you can't change who she is and what she looks like."

Really, dude? Of course you can.

" Yeah, there aren't as many black characters as white, but I wonder if that's also a reader demographic thing? More white nerds that black? If Marvel / DC thought there was more cash to be made, they'd do it."

What does the white demographic of comicbook readers have to do with characters being made any other race but white? Just because there might be more "white nerds" that read comic books means they should make the majority of the characters only white? That kind of mentality is exactly what he is talking about when he says people think so narrow-minded nowadays.

I'd love to see a modern Fantastic Four film done right, but it shouldn't matter what colour their skin is. People complain that Johnny can't be black because Sue isn't. Well, who said she isn't in this reboot? What does it matter? Will your life really be worse because a man with darker skin is playing your favourite character?

Grow a backbone, buddy.
And get a life.

I hope you don't expect to be taken seriously talking the way you do. Please grow up and try to go without using the f word in every other comment.

Thank you staypuffed, at least you have some reasoning.

The dude is a FICTIONAL CHARACTER in a FICTIONAL WORLD. Now go back to your FICTIONAL life if this is really that big of a deal to you.
The dude isnt Superman or Batman, he's the human torch. Hell the guy isnt white or black, hes more orange most of the time.

And who's to say that he wasn't just auditioned because the director believed that he exhibited traits of the Human Torch? He worked with him before and after hearing the casting rumors even I thought that he had the charisma and playboy attitude to pull it off after seeing Chronicle. People automatically think that just because a director wants to cast someone that isn't white as a character that has been depicted as such must be doing so for political reasons when perhaps it's just because they believe he could make it work.

Why can't a black actor or even Latino actor play a fictional white character that is not define by their race at all

Did Johnny being white in the comics have anything to do with any FF stories...... Nope

You just proved his point. It doesn't change anything at all so it shouldn't matter if it's changed. I'm half black and I love the Human Torch. I don't care if he's white or black. I like the character for his personality etc. not because he's white with blue eyes and blonde hair.

Need I remind you guys of the words the great Martin Luther King Jr once said

"Do not judge a man by the color of his skin but by the content of his character."

Grow up kids. There's more to the world besides just white people and America. Please check your ethno-centric views at the door. Its 2014. America has a black President. Its legal for gay people to get married. Weed is legal for recreational use in 2 states (medical use it many others).

Get with the times or get left behind with all the ignorant folk. Its up to you to grow up.
