Possiblity of sequels
"I know, absolutely I think there will be a sequel. I’m pretty positive about it," he said, going on to elaborate on the rebooted franchise potential. "No one’s has said anything yet but I’m very positive there will be one. I mean that’s what we’re here to do — to really tell those stories because it’s a phenomenal hero and action adventure. There’s a bountiful amount of stories to tell. So I think they will definitely have two or three more."

Preparing his body for the role
"We had about four to six weeks to get ready," he answered. "It was tons of weight training and cardio. Because we had to put mass on very quickly it was a lot of heavy weights and a pretty strict diet"

Preparing mentally for the role
"Every morning." He said, "It’s funny, I get picked up and when I shook off all the sore and the pain. I always listen to Pantera, there’s a song called ‘Walk’ that was definitely the Conan song. A lot of old Metallica and a lot of Rage Against the Machine. That always helped.

I applaud the confidence that Jason has about possible sequels, but he might want to wait til the first one is out in theaters before making such a bold declaration.

Personally I'm not sure about this movie. I want to like this movie. I loved the Arnold Schwarzenegger versions, but this one is trying to stay more faithful to the source material, make it leaner and meaner. But...the trailers are all over the place. A few make the film look cheesy like Krull, while others are so deliciously violent and brutal that get me quite stoked. Too bad the best parts of the vicious trailers are the younger Conan doing grisly things, and not the elder.

Starring Jason Momoa, Ron Perlman, Rachel Nichols, Stephen Lang, and Rose McGowan, Conan the Barbarian is set to be released in 2D and 3D on August 19th!

If Cimmerians have black hair and blue eyes, why is Ron Perlman playing Conan's father? Bill Smith was an awesome choice for the original. Too bad he's too old to play the roll anymore. That was one of the downsides to the orig film. His part was short lived.

"this dude has the face of a villain, nothing else. "

And that's a bad thing? Robert E. Howard said Conan had a sinister face, after all.

"If Cimmerians have black hair and blue eyes, why is Ron Perlman playing Conan's father?"

For the same reason Laila Rouass has dark eyes, and Jason Momoa has brown eyes: the filmmakers don't seem to care.

@ckal He already had a good physique. Putting on mass that quick isn't hard, but shedding the fat that comes with it is. That's probably why he didn't look super shredded and jacked.

@InFamouslyCool - You may think he has the face of a villain, millions of girls will think otherwise. Every woman I know loves this guy!

@RyanLantern77 - He's a quadrillion times better actor than Arnold Schwarznegger and look how far Arnie went with you fanboys!

And for all the idiots who reckon its gonna fail and not make more money that the dumb version of Conan as portrayed By Arnold Schwarznegger, well here's some box office facts!

Conan The Barbarian - Domestic Gross=$39,565,475
Conan The Destroyer - Domestic Gross=$31,042,035

I'm willing to bet Jason's Conan movie makes more than what both those Arnie films made put together! Fanboys have always been under some imagination that those stupid films were a hit when actually they were just largely ignored by audiences and kinda huge flops. This new movie will be a far bigger hit than these doubters and haters can imagine and they'll spend the rest of the summer moaning about it!

This guy looks like Conan should.
Took forever for them to put out a trailer, so am suspect of the quality of this movie.
The look of it has been overdone, was a time for it.

Oh, c'mon, guys. The Captain America trailer was just OK but everyone started to say it would be a big success.

The Conan trailers are perfect and you are complaining about the movie? I can't understand.

I really hope Nispel has did his job very well. This movie needs to rock - and with that red band trailer, he got me completely.

Over the last 5 years about once or twice a year I get a group of guys together that I've known for a while, go to the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin and watch kick ass guy flicks.

Rambo, Rocky Balboa, Expendables, movies like this.

We are going to go and check this out on 8/19, looking forward to it. I am an Arnold fan and appreciate that take on Conan but this one just looks fun. Yes it is going to over acted and yes some cheese will be involved. But people really need to not be so damn critical of their movies. This is a sit back drink some beers and watch some ass kicking. Hopefully some good action, old school t&a and a couple of heads being chopped off.

Also, if you guys had seen this guy before he started lifting you would be impressed with what he has done with his body. Listening to old school heavy metal I would imagine would definitely get you pumped up to play Conan. I think the guy is pretty tall and the taller you are the harder it is to look bigger. Many of you haters probably could put down the Mountain Dew and Playstation controller and hit the gym for more than a few days and you'll know what it takes for these guys to look the part. The eating, weights and lifestyle takes a toll and then imagine going and swinging a 25lb sword around all day riding a horse.

I think this movie is gonna be a ton of fun and I'm looking forward to the movie night.

This movie will rock! Mamoa IS Conan! I grew up with the Arnie versions and have since read the comics and the books, and as much as I still love those films, they are NOT Conan. Mamoa looks liek Conan straight out of a Frazetta painting. The world they've created looks more like Hyboria than we've seen before. I'm not looking for an Oscar winning performance, but the man is a better actor than Arnie from what i've seen so far. Stop hating and give it a chance.

@InFamouslyCool -- Robert E Howard regularly described Conan as having the face of a villain.

@Aaesir -- If I had my way, a Conan movie would exist with young William Smith in the title role.

@BlazinTexan, actually I bought the sword from this guy that makes them in Spain and it weighs over 20lbs so I was a little over the top. I actually bought it for a Buddy of mine as a wedding present; his wife of course loved it....

We all know the fan-boys are not going to be happy. When you have as much time invested as they/us do you have very strict ideas about what a subject should be. We also know that most CBMs are not really going to be award worthy and not everyone is Mr. Ledger. So speculate all you want about how good a film will or will not be, but until we viewed it all speculation. (steps off of soap box)

I'm excited and happy for this guy. I enjoyed his work in Game of Thrones season one and I hope he knocks this movie out of the park. He seems like a down the earth person, so was the impression I got with the game of thrones panel footage from comic con. But hey as the famous saying goes, "Haters gonna' hate!"

Robert E Howard often described Conan's face as having a "sinister" aspect, so having the face of a villian is appropriate.

Hey Arnie's widows, stop whining like faggots and move on... hell yeah, there's a plenty of Conan's stories to be told, hail Krom!

Pantera and RATM? Nice taste in music...

Sorry but this guy would be someone Conan would kill in the first 5 mins of a better movie. Maybe he could played Conan's teenage brother. Some of the strength related stunts in the trailer are just not believable with this guy's frame size.

There are two companies that make replicas of the swords from the Milius movies.
Albion swords was started by the man that designed the swords for the movies. They have 2 models of the Atlantean sword, one weighs 7.8 lbs, the other 8.2 lbs (the sword was a little longer in Destroyer). The Father's sword they produce is listed as 7.5 lbs.
Marto is the Spanish company that makes the swords. Their Atlantean is 8.4 lbs, their father's sword is 5.9 lbs.
There are some chinese knock offs. The Chinese Atlantean weighs 6.6 lbs, the father's sword 4.6lbs.
If you've never held a sword before, because the weight extends for several feet away from your hand, they feel heavier than they really are. It is far easier to hold a 8 lbs or 5 lbs dumb bell away from your body than to hold a sword of equal weight at arms length because of the weight distribution. If you can't get a sword, compare dumbells to kettle balls at an athletic store or your local walmart.

Wroted
I watched the first 10 minutes of the Arnold Conan the other day again, and I forgot how absolutely terrible it is. There couldn't be a worse possible portrayal of the character Conan. First of all he was a slave? And a dumb idiotic character? Nuff said already."

Man you are so retardet that expect you to understand anything from the first movie is clearly too much to ask. The first movie is a direct recriation of the Nietzsche's ideal of "superman" as the man beyond state and religion and it was superb in doing that. The first scene of the sword creation represents all the stages that the character will be put through out the movie in order to become the "polished sword". It shows the strenght of body through ordeal, then the hability to use through discipline, and at last the hability to relate with others through love and friendship, and all of that possible thanks to an iron will. The movie ends with the triumph of reason over faith and conclude the Nietszche vision. The stupid USA version cut off the parts that would make it to have sense and leave u guys with the hollywood bullsh1t version of it. The studio said that they see no reason for the long scenes and the philosofical content, they wish an action movie. The original movie was so deep that anyone that try to compare both of them should be put to death. You still can wacth it as the director's cut version. The greatest mistake of the first movie was to believe that people would have inteligence enough to understand the meanings behind the scenes. funny enough the same lack of inteligence is just what will make this new popcorn movie a sucess. as you said "Nuff said already".
