Del Torro To Flex His Movie Mojo In "The Hobbit"

Del Torro To Flex His Movie Mojo In "The Hobbit"

Guillermo Del Toro is not only directing one of the most anticipated release's of 2011, he gets to be in it as well!

What a lucky guy. First Guil gets the most successful Fantasy Movie franchise in history handed to him on a silver platter, and now the Guil gets to play a role in "The Hobbit" as well. Guil had this to say to a German TV Show:

"not an important one, just a background guy." He went on to tell The One Ring: "I will have a line or two and die quickly."

I tell ya, any luckier and his head will explode.

So, ComicBookMovie fans, with the recent news that Viggo has expressed interest in being in any Tolkien property and "The Guil" playing a yet unnamed role in "The Hobbit" brings up two questions.

Question number 1: Should we see Aragorn in "The Hobbit" or should Guil stay closer to the book?

Question number 2: Which creature should Guillermo Del Toro play in "The Hobbit"?

Many thanks to IGN for providing the image!!!

I'm sure it will be something unimportant...man, I just wish they would hurry up with the casting already! Nice find.

He will be one of the goblins from the Goblin Kings tribe. Or...a Troll?

Mskyle, would you need a ring?:)

thwhtGuardian - 11/11/2009, 1:33 PM
He should be one of the trolls!
Rokrad

No to aragorn! Stay close to the book!
He should be one of the river folk or one of the trolls!

That sounds like a smokin deal! ^_^

How geeky and/or fanboyish do you have to be to qualify?

Oh, and this series of movies will be great! They're not Star Wars, but they're great!

1. Don't care
2. Hobbit

might be time to go back to the vader avatar.

Ahhh don't let the drooling masses scare you. Though you'd probably look pretty hot in a Vader suit. ;)

Vader is my idol. Used to carry his action figure with me everywhere. Then came the prequels... it's like finding out Santa Claus is really just a douchebag in a fat suit.

Del Toro could be one of the unimportant dwarves. Anyway is always nice to have a cool cameo, just like Stan Lee in almost any Marvel Movie.

hahahhahah SirPrize

I have an older brother, so most of life's mysteries were spoiled early. I visited the Church of John Coltrane in '97 and was inspired to form the Church of Darth Vader... and then the Phantom Menace came out. Inspirado crushed. My god is dead.

Dude, I was the same upon seeing Phantom plot in the cinema. My young mind convinced myself that it was great and just needed a repeat viewing. I was wrong:(

Agreed Ror01

I had thought the, ahem, brownies I ate in line about an hour before going in had me confused about what I was seeing. It couldn't possibly be this bad.. could it? Alas, the truth cannot hide from the sober mind.

Agreed on the Episodes 1-3 review, those movies crushed my childhood dreams when they came out.

MsKyle - I am pretty sure you just made thousands of geeks extremely happy.

meh, hardly dream crushing. They weren't as great as the originals but I liked them none the less.

Purist here. Aragorn isn't in the book, he has no place in the movie.

apoc: "Purist here. Aragorn isn't in the book, he has no place in the movie."

gotta go with you on that. I like things they way it was written without any obvious or major deviations. I think it would be nice to tie it in if they were able to but when in doubt, stick to the book.

No Aragorn.

Del Toro could play Tom Bombadil or The Mole Man from Fantastic Four. Liderties shmiberties.

oh and no to aragorn in the hobbit. i wouldn't mind a story of just him while he was a ranger, though.
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 11/12/2009, 7:04 AM
Aragorn is off doing various heroic things during the events of The Hobbit, its just not written about in the book, so whats the big deal with showing it in the movie? Its not like they want to have him living next door to Bilbo or something! He will probably only pop up in a cameo in Rivendell.
Nemesys
Nemesys - 11/12/2009, 7:17 AM
Del Toro could play Bombor the dwarf.

No place for Aragorn, it'd be cool, but he's not in the book. This series is about the closest book adaptation I've seen, so I don't want them going off into left field. It's bad enough that we didn't get to see Bombadil and the Barrow-wights in The Fellowship.
Duhdaduh
Duhdaduh - 11/12/2009, 8:02 AM
he should be one of the 17 or whatever it is dwarves that nobody really focuses on

aragorn, throw that motherf-er in, but keep it as a small cameo, dont try to unravel a whole side story and everything!

ms kyle, give me a call whenever u wanna make that ms a mrs ahahaha

SirPrize - I will never be able to see Vader again without thinking about that, I will never see him the same.

As for Aragorn, I am not sure how I feel about him being added. I know they are adding stuff from other Tolkein info as to show where Gandalf was so there may be more saying where Aragorn was at the time, he was extremely long lived (90 or something in LotR).

I always pictured Bobba as more of an Iron Maiden type of guy.

Not familiar with 5FDP but I'm gonna check that out. You want heavy and ballsy, check out The Dillinger Escape Plan. Incredibly heavy and technically sound.

I just love the Iron Maiden. As for Vader, make fun all you want, I blame Lucas for crushing my dreams on that one long ago. :)
