With a theatrical release date of May 14, 2010, "Robin Hood" stars Russell Crowe, Cate Blanchett, William Hurt, and Kevin Durand to name a few.


The premise:

"It is late 12th century England and Sir Robin Hood of Locksley (Russell Crowe) has returned to his village after fighting in the Third Crusade. Upon arrival, the nobleman and his servant discover the oppression caused by the new Sheriff of Nottingham (Matthew Macfadyen). Sir Robin uses his intelligence and military skills to free his village of tyranny and take back what is rightfully his. Robin must also win the affection of the recently widowed Lady Marian (Cate Blanchett) while leading his Merry Men of Sherwood Forest to victory."

What an awful choice to play Robin Hood. I think Russel Crowe is overrated anyways...although I did enjoy A Beautiful Mind.

Thanks dude. For some reason select users on the site seem to only know about traditional comic book characters...Hulk, batman, etc. So the first sign of something new in an article and the phrase to either discredit the news subconsciously or consciously..."wtf does this have to do with comic books?" That's the 2nd or 3rd time that was posted on one of my articles

Word to the wise, the best thing to do is google before posting that sort of question for future reference and you'll discover before asking the question that a comic book does exist

Hollywood has this issue where they recycle talent over and over. Regardless what the role, "let's get Brad Pitt." "But the character is a 5'2 female." "That doesn't matter, Brad can pull it off." The windows need to open a bit for other choices because I truly believe the actors bounce around from role to role without a new face to freshen things up. They open briefly from time-to-time but not nearly enough. I understand they want their return on investment and the idea is that a well known actor would bring in audiences, but if you don't give others a chance, the cycle won't ever be broken

Who would you guys have chosen for Robin Hood?

I knew this was coming out when i read Empire magazine months ago, though its good to see a PIC!! Cool vid!

Hopefully its gonna have twists to it. Cool find @ WHISPERS!!

Hopefully its gonna be a good movie! Still want a GREEN ARROW a billion times more lol!

Barowman who wanted to be Cap should have pushed to get Robin Hood instead. He'd look better in tights with a feathered hat.

Can't believe they're remaking this shit again. Couldn't they have made the sequel??? And is it just me or is Cate Blanchet the absolute WORST pick for maid marianne??? How about getting an actress who's not in her menopause???

I just did some research on Henry Cavill...dude, I didn't know he was a front-runner for Casino Royale in order to bring Bond to a younger audience but eventually the producers felt between him, Daniel Craig and Sam Worthington, he was too young for the role so it went to Craig. The director wanted him but the producers I believe were against it. I also didn't know under McG he was the choice to play Superman in "Superman: Flyby" before McG pulled out and it went to Bryan Singer who then had Routh cast.

This guy had some pretty solid roles up his sleeve but at the last minute something didn't go his way.

Thanks for the name drop...I'll look out for him more now

Dude...when I watched the behind the scene footage, I thought the same thing...Cate Blanchett...really? Of every attractive and talented actress in Hollywood or even an up-and-comer, this is who you depict as Lady Marian? I think there are better choices for that particular role. She s historically younger than Cate who I believe is 40-years-old

I thought Crowe is supposed to be playing the Sheriff? I read somewhere awhile ago that he was playing the Sheriff of Nottingham and the movie was kidna showing things from his perspective...guess not??? At any rate his kid is adorable!!!

Have any of you guys read the re-imagining of ROBIN HOOD by STEPHEN LAWHEAD??!!??

I could honestly care less about this film, but if it was based on LAWHEADS' books (Hood, Scarlet, and Tuck), then I would probably watch each of the films TWICE!!!

Check them out if you haven't already, he's a great author!

listen, some movies should not be remade! errol flynn's robin hood is a classic for all time. even got a spot in a bugs bunny cartoon. it's the arrogance of the director's and actor's that think they can improve upon these classics and make a few bucks. it's all about the money, not the integrity.

whether we like it or not, they feel the need to dissect the classics by remaking them, with the assumption it would generate more box office dollars. The sad thing is, it's as if they have no shame whatsoever. As "Southpark" depicted in the episode involving Steven Spielberg and George Lucas, Hollywood will forever rape the classics with remakes. So sad

This movie will be a train wreck, Why would you pick Crowe and Kate for the 2 main parts. Is this like a geriatric re-imagining of the story, because thats what it looks like.

Teabag @ your right about Cavill, he will be the next big thing, he will be Bond one day, he should have got this role if only the directors and producers had opened their eyes.

Cavill was also heavily considered for the part of bruce wayne/Batman in Batman Begins but was considered too young. He was also first choice to play Edward (Lead character) in twilight but by the time they started making the movie he was to old (25 years old). Someone in hollywood give this guy a break, he would rock your narrow minded world.

Teabag @ to hell with it, we should start a campaign to get this guy some respect, before its too late and we end up with a french James Bond. Come on everyone, vote hell yes on Proposition Cavill, who's with me?

Would it have been too hard to cast Cavil as Robin Hood and Kiera Knightly as Lady Marian??? Seriously, even with all the CGI in the world, Kate Blanchet looked old as [frick] in LOTR!!! LOGICALLY, she's not gonna look any younger in Robin Hood.

its just annoying as hell when people whine and complain about an article for not being comic related. this site offers news on comic movies, sci fi, and anything else in that vein. if its not something you're interested in, then don't click on the article. its pretty simple.

If you were referring to me when you mentioned "attitude," that's as they say a "Female trait." I simply addressed the matter of the film being comic book related and hinted at this being another attempt on a post where someone asked what the story has to do with comic books when the story was actually a comic book related story.

This is the internet, people online commenting on blogs won't ever meet. Behind the screen is someone we have no idea about. Most people who post on blogs who use the "tough guy" approach I noticed are usually the guys who sit in a corner at a party if ever invited, refraining from eye contact with the ladies. Let's just all keep it strictly on topic here and leave the tough guy persona's for face-to-face altercations. We are all on the site to voice opinions, not come off as something we aren't. It isn't a jab, just making it clear that we aren't here to argue or be tough about futile situations.

As I said, this is a place for all of us regardless what ethnicity, religion, etc, where we have one thing in common...comic books and movies. We already have enough separating us, no need for us to be at odds if we disagree or misinterpret things.
