Sir Ian McKellen has this to say about "The Hobbit."

“The scripts for the two films will be delivered very soon,” he revealed. “Then they'll be budgeted, and then they'll be cast. And they'll be going when they've always said they would be, which is next spring – March or April. Guillermo even told me at one point, 'We're going to film for 383 days.' He's got that artistic autism! Jackson's the same; they're very, very, very alike. They also very different, but they've so much in common. They both can't stand Hollywood and have wonderful imaginations, and they're both obsessed with gore and fantasy. Both of them laugh a great deal. Guillermo's one of the most brilliant men I've ever met. His English vocabulary is way superior to mine!”

He also stated that he is unsure about cameos from other Ring" members such as Aragorn and Legolas. But he states that Andy Serkis who played Gollum is back(as he acts most of the time in costume or cgi-ed over).

Though the likelihood of Hugo Weaving as Lord Elrond is high.

In terms of the "X-Men Origins: Magneto." Here is what he said:

“There's meant to be a Magneto script floating around, but I've not read it, so I suspect it wouldn't involve me,” he said. “I think it would be about the younger Magneto, and the most I could hope for would be to top and tail that. They can't have someone whose face is as lined as mine any longer!”

what's with the blue?

Hobbit was a far more interesting book than the Lord of the Rings. Naturally, I assume that the movie will be very good. Mckellen is a good actor, and I hope Guillermo can pull it off. Here's hoping

He's too old to play Magneto! We need a younger more intimitading actor for the role! Still, a Magneto movie is incredibly pointless!!! It would be an awful idea especially as the characters origins arent even all that interesting!

@wards,

I don't question his directing. He's a good director. It's just that I don't know if he can completely capture the world we saw in LOTR. He probably will, but there's always that small splinter of doubt in my mind, when hollywood makes a film about a book that i like

Gerard Butler would be the best little-bit younger version
of Mangneto! He has that seething scary powerful feel to
him!

Guillermo has made every character he has adapted to the
silver screen have the very essence of that character!
Especially Hellboy!

Why would he do any different for The Hobbit? It should be
very authentic and very, very good!

I love Ian he is so funny for a serious actor... but you have to keep it authentic no should change the actors it keeps the magic alive.

Okay, let's see if this works ;)

I say Clive Owen would be a very decent choice for a younger Magneto in his own film. But they need to get Ed Harris as Xavier's Headmaster in First Class!!!
