The packaging for a new action figure of Cobra Commander gives us a glimpse of what Joseph Gordon-Levitt could possibly look like in the upcoming film, G.I.JOE: Rise of Cobra.





For months there has been speculation as to what the character would look like in the movie. Levitt himself has hinted in interviews that the film version of Cobra Commander was visually different from the cartoon version and that he had to undergo hours of prosthetic make-up application for the role.

I always loved the cartoon Cobra Commander helmet and the annoying voice, not sure about this one.

How pathetic! They can't even get Cobra Commander right! That is the cheesiest looking costume I've ever seen-and I survived the campiness of the 70's! He looks more like Ant-Man or the guy from the Quiet Riot "Metal Health" video (great video if it's still up on You Tube)- he also shows up on the cover of "Metal Health"- than he does the leader of Cobra. And what's with that big syringe? Is that.... green cheese in that thing? And a big cheesy 80's gun that shoots out chunks of cheddar? Or better yet limburger? I guess the little one shoots out Cheez-Whiz. OH, that'll leave a stain!

I sure hope people don't take their kids to see this garbage! Better to spend that money on the DVD's of the original series and introduce a new generation to one of the great TV cartoons ever.

i have a bad feeling about this movie.. all the stuff they've put out for the movie hasn't gotten me excited about at all..
and i like the "handkerchief over the head" from the series better.. very low-tech..

WOW. From the start I said this movie was gonna kinda suck. Now, I definitely know it will…The Cobra Commander looks pretty gay, I'm not gonna lie LOL his mask is nothing compared to the originals. They actually looked pretty cool sometimes…but this, this is just dumb haha And Joseph Gordon-Levitt? Come on, I mean I like his work, but the COBRA COMMANDER??? NOOOO!! It should’ve been played by an actor who strikes you as an EVIL DUDE lol not Joseph, he’s badass sometimes, but I don’t think this is the role for him. But anyways, ill probably still end up watching this movie, even if I already don’t like it much :)

I have faith that this movie will be "Decent"

The look is besides the point to a certain degree. Gordon said that the movie will have the essence of the characters and if the script is good it will drive the movie.

It will not be the cartoon we all know and love, but to this day i've yet to see a cartoon turned exactly into a movie that work.

He has two cool masks or helmet an mask should i say! Everyone was in an uproar from the Stealth type costumes, i could live with that, even STORM SHADOW!!! But not this OMG lol! It's a joke right!?! This has got to be just the toy design or something...I'm gunna have to agree with BmanHall...I dont' think they'd take away his most visual attribute (his blue mask). Lets cross them fingers and hope this is just some toy thing, and not the movie look
