Don't Expect A TANGO & CASH Reunion In GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2

Kurt Russell has confirmed that he and Sylvester Stallone, co-stars in 1989's Tango & Cash, don't actually have any scenes together in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.  Russell is playing Ego The Living Planet, Star-Lord's biological father and Stallone is rumored to be playing Starhawk, a high-ranking member of The Ravagers.

 Although they don't share any scenes together, Russell did say that he and Stallone were able to reunite behind-the-scenes, on the film's set. "Well... no, there's nothing there. But what was fun was, when I learned that Sly was going to play a part, it was fun to just be ale to feel that we were in the same movie. I saw Sly two or three times during the making of the movie and after.  It was great to be able to, once gain, hang with Sly. He's a really huge person. His demeanor, everything about him. He always puts a smile on my face, and we share lots of laughs. I find him to be very smart and very funny - and alive... He's a great hang. This was just fun, being in the same sandbox. It was nice to have that connection again."

But just because their on-screen reunion doesn't happen in Vol. 2 doesn't mean it won't occur in another Marvel film according to director James Gunn. "This is definitely not a one-off [cameo]. They’re both characters that we’ve taken a lot of time to develop, and they’re a big part of the MCU now."  Perhaps this is an indication that both characters will return for a third Guardians film? Or will Ego and Starhawk turn up in Avengers: Infinity War, or maybe they'll be in the stands during Thor: Ragnarok's gladiator battles?

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters May 5.

I still have hopes Sly is Galactus; why do I set these expectations?

Ego being a planet and Galactus trying to eat him just makes sense to me.

@Benjamitesandwich -

Makes sense, but i think they introduced Dormammu so he can effectively serve as the Galactus-like entity for Infinity War.

@Scarilian - but there is a whole bunch of entities in Infinity Gauntlet...even Infinity.

True, but i think they would have done Dormammu differently if they planned on introducing a Galactus that looked like the comics.

Having two massive human-looking beings that devour planets/dimensions might be a touch difficult for the general audience to differentiate.

There are a few similarities already between the two, including them both being referred to as devourer of worlds along with how they cannot destroy Dormammu and instead bargain with him similar to how Galactus is defeated in the comics.

You mean, you aren't going out of your way to reference an insecure 80's film that was negatively received, for 80's kids but instead are focusing on making your own film the way you want it?

James, I'm sorry that can't stand.
