Tickets for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 went on sale this week, and marketing for the third (final?) instalment in the fan-favorite MCU franchise has kicked-up a few notches ahead of the movie's theatrical debut early next month.

On the heels of a bunch of posters and TV spots, director James Gunn has shared Empire Magazine's latest cover, which gives us a new look at the core team - Star-Lord, Drax, Gamora, Groot, Rocket, Mantis and Nebula - as they prepare for one last ride.

Empire usually debuts at least two covers when it's promoting a big comic book film, so keep an eye out for a subscriber only version, which should find its way online fairly soon.

"In Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 our beloved band of misfits are settling into life on Knowhere. But it isn’t long before their lives are upended by the echoes of Rocket’s turbulent past." "Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him on a dangerous mission to save Rocket’s life—a mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them."

Gunn writes and directs Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, featuring Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Sean Gunn, Chukwudi Iwuji, Will Poulter, and Maria Bakalova. Kevin Feige is the producer and Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Nikolas Korda, Simon Hatt, and Sara Smith serve as executive producers.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 arrives in theaters on May 5, 2023.

@ShimmyShimmyYA - They remind me (somewhat) of space suits from 2001: A Space Odyssey.

@ShimmyShimmyYA - They also make it easier for the audience (especially children) to know who is in which suit.

@TheCoonII - Movie still has a month so who knows...Super Mario had slow advance ticket sales too and now they are expecting a 225 million opening weekend, these are pre-pandemic numbers. But then again Mario is 90 mins and Gotg3 is going to be 180 mins.

It's a shame it took the Guardian's 6th appearance to have matching team suits.

@SonOfAGif - did they ever really had it in the comics? I'm surprised they're giving them matching suits at all

@SonOfAGif - It took Holland's Peter Parker 6 movies to finally become broke and mature spider-man from the comics too lol. Thats just the tv show formula.

@SonOfAGif - ...what? They got matching suits for the end of the first movie.

I think you mean they finally got the blue comic suits.

@Origame - Of which they never wore in the sequel.

@SonOfAGif - ...just admit you forgot about the original ravager suits.
SonOfAGif
SonOfAGif - 4/6/2023, 5:05 PM
@Origame - The Ravager suits were only used in the finale of the first film and then only Quill use Ravager like clothing beyond the first film. Since that point on the team has had matching suits to establish them as a team. Although Rocket had a Guardians suit in Endgame. So I imagine they did wear suits together during the gap between Vol 2 and Infinity War.

@SonOfAGif - dude, stop changing the goal post and admit you forgot about the ravager suits.

@SonOfAGif - it made no sense for them to have matching uniforms before this, they only met in GOTG 1, GOTG 2 takes place not that long after the first movie....between GOTG 2 and Infinity War....maybe...but I think the point is that after the Nova Corp was destroyed by Thanos, the Guardians have become the only defenders of the peace in the galaxy, so they become official Guardians wearing an overall uniform
SonOfAGif
SonOfAGif - 4/6/2023, 6:04 PM
@dancingmonkey08 - Xandar got destroyed prior to Thanos assaulting the Asgardians in the ship. So the Guardians were Guardians for a few years in space. As we saw Baby Groot turned into Teen Groot.
