A new standee has been spotted for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and it offers a fun, surprisingly casual, look at the space-faring team of superheroes.

Front and centre is Star-Lord, with his sister, Mantis, and Kraglin on the left. On the right are Drax and Nebula, while Cosmo, Groot, and Rocket can be seen below. Interestingly, Gamora is also featured, though we have a feeling that's more of a marketing ploy than an indication Thanos' daughter will be getting close to the team in this movie.

After all, the Variant has no memory of her time as a Guardian, and a trailer shown to D23 attendees last summer suggested she's the new leader of the Ravagers.

A closer look at the names on this Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 standee confirms Elizabeth Debicki will return as Ayesha, while Sylvester Stallone is also given top billing. That's it in terms of "reveals," though rumour has it we could get a new trailer during the Super Bowl tomorrow night.

Take a closer look at the standee below!

In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, our beloved band of misfits are looking a bit different these days. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him to defend the universe along with protecting one of their own. A mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.

Gunn writes and directs Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, featuring Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Sean Gunn, Chukwudi Iwuji, Will Poulter, and Maria Bakalova.

Kevin Feige is the producer and Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Nikolas Korda, Simon Hatt, and Sara Smith serve as executive producers.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 arrives in theaters on May 5, 2023.

@bkmeijer1 - I like it. I think it differentiates them. This isn't the same Groot and he shouldn't look the same.

@90caliber - kinda makes sense

@Slotherin - Not kinda, it makes perfect sense. In IW, when Groot dies and Rocket is by his side, he calls Rocket his father, comfirmed by James Gunn. It's "groot" on screen but "Father" in the script The original Groot didn't think of Rocket as his Father though. They were best friends. This is an entirely different being, spirit, soul, what ever! LOL! They aren't the same.

Sean Gunn will NEVER have fear of unemployment as long as his brother keeps making movies! 🤓

@SuperiorHeckler - There isn’t anything wrong with that.

@SuperiorHeckler - I mean it's not like he's a horrible actor. He's serviceable as a secondary character.

Nepotism: Favoritism shown to relatives; patronage bestowed in consideration of family relationship. 🧐

@SuperiorHeckler - Royalty checks are more likely the reason. If he has a producer credit on even one of these movies he's set for life. He acts for fun.

In Gunn We Trust. He gave me everything I wanted in a DCU phase 1 announcement and THEN some shit I didn't even realize I wanted. Going with the Authority for first team up film???? This dude clearly has a story to tell. I cannot wait.

@McMurdo - DCU or not, I look forward to the Authority a lot. Aside from that, I do look forward to the DCU future too

@bkmeijer1 - I just feel like it's such a crazy route to take. It almost certainly means Gunn has a very intentional reason for going with what's essentially a R rated team. It makes me think Superman will have to bring em in line or something. The contrast between how's Supes does things and the Authority is gonna be really interesting.

@McMurdo - didn't even think of that yet, but it would be really cool if we get to see The Authority interact with DC heroes. Does seem very intentionally yeah

FilmGuy7878 - 2/11/2023, 5:24 PM
@McMurdo - I think that seeing The Authority do all this f**ked up shit in the name of justice is gonna be the trigger that inspires Supes to form the Justice League in the future.
McMurdo
McMurdo - 2/11/2023, 9:40 PM
@FilmGuy7878 - I think that makes a metric shit ton of sense. I think that's why it's such an early entry. It's to help build the foundation Supes will build upon and that contrast between Authority and JL is gonna feel great.
