GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3 Teaser Hints At The Destruction Of [SPOILER] And Adam Warlock In Action

Marvel Studios has released a new extended preview for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and it's packed full of emotion and the return of "Hooked on a Feeling" by Blue Swede.

There are a lot of humourous moments to be found, not to mention the promise of a "happy ending" for the team. That appears to be tongue-in-cheek, as it comes with the tease of romance between Star-Lord and Nebula. The biggest reveal, however, happens during a blink and you'd miss it action shot.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special established that Knowhere has become the team's new base. However, we see what appears to be The High Evolutionary's burning base heading straight for the Celestial's head, a possible hint the team's new home is going to be destroyed.

You'll also find some new shots of Adam Warlock blasting into action as he looks to take down the Guardians.

Check out this new teaser for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 below.

In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, our beloved band of misfits are looking a bit different these days. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him to defend the universe along with protecting one of their own. A mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.

Gunn writes and directs Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, featuring Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Sean Gunn, Chukwudi Iwuji, Will Poulter, and Maria Bakalova.

Kevin Feige is the producer and Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Nikolas Korda, Simon Hatt, and Sara Smith serve as executive producers.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 arrives in theaters on May 5, 2023.

A lot hinges on this movie. We're talking about a team of characters that people really enjoy quite a bit. If this movie does poorly I think it's a true sign that not only is the MCU in serious trouble, but superhero movies as a whole.

There's no reason this movie shouldn't make a lot of money just based on the fact that it's characters people love and its the final movie in this team's series. We may get more Guardians movies, but not with everyone from this team.

Fingers crossed it doesn't suck. Personally I loved the first one, and even though I didn't like the 2nd one, I still enjoyed watching the characters. But the story was weak.

@CorndogBurglar -
"There's no reason this movie shouldn't make a lot of money"

I think GotG2 being a drop in quality coupled with the damage done by Infinity War, Endgame, Thor L&T and the current state of the Disney/Marvel brand are going to impact this movie a lot. Pre-sales were tracking below Ant-Man 3 and Eternals. I don't think this movie can realistically surpass GotG2's box office despite inflation. We could be looking at another Ant-Man 3 situation where financially it fails to live up to the predecessors.

I'm leaning to it earning less than the first films $773.3m, depending on how badly it under-performs will determine Disney's reaction. Five sequels (Thor 4, Black Panther 2, Ant-Man 3, GotG3, Captain Marvel 2) releasing back-to-back all failing to financially do as well as the previous installments will be a concern though and could cause Disney to abandon plans for more sequels because of-course they won't recognize that poor quality story telling in Phase 4 has caused immense damage to the brand.

I think the Rocket plot-line is like the only reason to watch this movie, it seems to be the things the trailers focused on initially even though it's very likely everyone seeing the trailers or having an understanding of writing knows he's likely going to either tragically die, his sulk throughout GotG2 pretty much makes that inevitable and that's before they throw in Cosmo as a replacement. Now they seem to be focusing on Starlord mourning Gamora while also flirting with Gamora and Nebula and it's not funny, just depressing and kinda disgusting for his character.

@Scarilian - I agree with all of that except 2 things.

I think Rocket survives and gets his happy ending with his new female friend. He's been through enough in his life. He deserved a good ending, not death.

And 2, Infinity War didn't hurt them at all. I think End Game did. Not financially because it made a truck load of money. But the time travel aspects sent the MCU in a bad direction with the multiverse. It was a cool concept at first but its quickly becoming annoying and they just aren't handling it well.

Take that along with their weird decision to not recast the big name actors, therefore leaving us in an MCU without Cap, Iron Man, and Black Panther, and replacing them with new, less interesting characters and you've got a recipe for disaster.

Must admit, I hate everything they are doing with Gamora and Nebula in this movie from the trailers. It really feels like Endgame just screwed over the Guardians entire situation:

- Gamora died and this replacement should not even be possible because it creates a paradox as in Endgame we did not have the multiverse so it was just Gamora from the past, so she has to return back to the past but the movie just ignored that.
- Drax whose character hinged around getting revenge for the death of his daughter and at the end of the first film declared his real target was Thanos barely got any lines of dialogue regarding that aspect in Infinity War or Endgame and it feels like they forgot.
- Every member of the Guardians has died except for Rocket, so he's the only one they can actually kill off with emotional impact.

In addition, the Gamora situation has damaged the balance of the movie as per how the trailers depict it. Starlord is still meant to be mourning Gamora's death, something that shouldn't be taken as a joke. At the same time however he's trying to push his feelings onto the paradox Gamora who has not had the same development, which is unhealthy but we've seen stuff like that happen with Doctor Who for example with Rose Tyler's parents getting with each other because of the loss of their respective loves in the parallel worlds.

The trouble is that Starlord is now being pushed to having some weird flirtatious interactions with Nebula... what in the actual [frick] is this? He loses the love of his life, someone he's almost died to protect countless times and then he ends up just randomly flirting with her sister while in mourning and still flirting with Paradox Gamora? It's damaging to his character and shows he's regressed to even lower than the point he was at the start of the first movie.

Honestly, this is pretty much a Rocket Raccoon movie with Rocket getting revenge on the High Evolutionary, his newfound friends accepting him for who he is and potentially a tragic end for Rocket. None of the other characters really feel like they have plot-lines to resolve anymore because they abandoned those story-lines in Infinity War/Endgame. I'm sure the Rocket Raccoon aspects will be emotional and maybe some of the Starlord stuff, but that's really it. It does not feel like there's anything else this movie is offering, no story-lines to resolve, nothing new to add.

To further the point 'Starlord is still meant to be mourning Gamora's death, something that shouldn't be taken as a joke.' it reminds me of how Thor 4 tried to turn cancer into a joke and still use it as the emotional crux of the movie. It requires good writing to handle well and it's clear that is not the case in that film or here. It's tonally inconsistent and generally feels forced, you can tell James Gun never planned for Gamora to have been killed off and resurrected between movies and is trying desperately to do something with it.

Doesn't look like anything besides Rocket and Warlock are worth watching. Rocket was always the emotional anchor that saved these movies. I've never once given a damn about the relationship between Quill and Gamora, who have never once had an ounce of chemistry.

Rewatched the first two movies (which both are really well written) and finally the Holiday Special over the last few weeks, and combined with the marketing campaign ramping up, my excitement just keeps on growing. For sure my most anticipated CBM of the year
