Cameras are now rolling on the new Halloween movie, which will reportedly be a direct sequel to John Carpenter's original horror masterpiece. Blumhouse Productions confirmed the news via the production still below (could this be the new logo, perhaps?), while also revealing that several new additions have joined the cast.

Virginia Gardner (Marvel’s Runaways), Miles Robbins (Mozart in the Jungle), Dylan Arnold (Mudbound), and Drew Scheid (Stranger Things) will all play school-friends of Andi Matichak’s character, Allyson. They'll be joined by Jamie Lee Curtis who will reprise the role of Laurie Strode, and Nick Castle, who will be back under the mask as Michael Myers, a.k.a. "The Shape."

David Gordon Green (Eastbound & Down, Pineapple Express, Our Brand Is Crisis) is on board to direct new movie from a script co-written by frequent collaborator Danny McBride. John Carpenter will executive produce.

Halloween is set to slice its way into theaters on October 19.

Wow, I just got even more excited for a movie I was already incredibly excited about.

@TheUnworthyThor - Same. I didn't like Runaways at all but I did enjoy her.

Wonder who she's playing. Kind of wish that they weren't ignoring all of the films that came after the first one. I'm a MAJOR Halloween fan (original series, that is). Michael Myers is my favorite horror villain.

@HeavyMetal4Life - Mine too. And yeah I wish they weren’t ignoring the other movies too. Would love to see a movie that tried to connect them all. But it definitely doesn’t stop my excitement to see a new Halloween movie.

I loved Runaways though.

And they didn’t even need a Flashpoint movie to erase those that came before.

@BlackBeltJones - In terms of Marvel TV, Karolina Dean (and honestly all of the Runaways) are on the list of well-cast and capable enough actors that I would feel totally comfortable making the jump to a Marvel Studio film.

Like if Feige needed bodies to fill out an Avengers Initiative roster, all that's needed is a minor makeover for the Fistigons and they're movie-ready. Inhumans (because they've seemingly got no friends anywhere) and a few dropped balls in Agents aside, there's really not much that has come out of Loeb's shop that I wouldn't like to see crossed over with a film character or two.

I mean, who wouldn't want to see Molly meet Thor? Or Gert get grossed out by old creepy man-slut Tony Stark.

It really is becoming a "not enough hours in the day" problem.

@Spock0Clock - Everyone from Netflix could make the jump for me too. (FINN your auction is IF season 2)

Fits and Simmons are my picks from AOS. Sidenote: Fitz is a star in the making. That guy can ACT. Needs the right big opportunity.

The Runaways cast in the films is actually such a good idea that Feige should be considering it down the road. These kids have such charisma and bouncing that youthful exuberance off of the vets would be a real pleasure.

@knocturnalzen10 - Dude, 2017 was great for horror. Looking like we’re on the right track.

Creep 2
Prevenge
The Devil’s Candy
It Comes at Night
Split
The Killing of a Sacred Deer
Raw
Gerald’s Game
The Blackcoat’s Daughter
It (wasn’t a favorite of mine but one can’t deny its success)
The Endless
Get Out
Cult of Chucky (not exactly high art, but it was a fun B-horror romp)
