This has been a good week for fans of unstoppable masked killers. First we find out that Jason Vorhees will be getting his own Friday The 13th tv series, and now Bloody Disgusting's sources at Cannes confirm that Michael Myers will be worrying babysitters once again in Halloween 3D. The movie was originally envisioned as a second sequel to Rob Zombie's Halloween, but the site say they're not sure if that's still the case of this will be yet another reboot. No other details are provided, though we do know that Todd Farmer and Patrick Lussier wrote the last draft of the screenplay. Would you rather see a continuation of Zombie's canon or another take altogether? Or would you prefer if they left the unkillable bastard alone altogether? Sound off below.

Give the franchise to Avi Arad, apparently he thinks he knows what he's doing with Spider-Man

Don't care what anyone says if slasher movies continue to exist I'll continue to watch them. They have been my shit since I was a kid.

Saw Rob Zombie's first Halloween movie and liked it. Haven't seen all of the 2nd yet but i hope this movie is set in his universe. I'd also like Zombie to return to the franchise.

When it has 3D in the title you can tell the best its going to be is a generic popcorn flick designed to leech money from the audience. I could understand if it was a sequel that just happened to be in 3D - however the entire focus of this seems to be on the 3D gimmick.

Either way, Slasher flicks are boring nowadays as after the first few you realise that they are just going to kill most the cast each time - and it gets dull seeing unlikeable people die.

Alright, I'll see how this plays out and check it out when it hits theaters. I [frick]ing love the original, 2, and 3 was cheesy fun (the other sequels can go [frick] themselves to the 10th dimension). I also really like both of Rob Zombie's films, I feel when he tries he can make some damn good horror. Whoever was the cinematographer on his Halloween films, House of 1,000 Corpses, and especially Devils Rejects, needs a damn award.

Ultimately what Halloween comes down to is Dr. Loomis. He's the character that drives those movies. At the end of the day that's what makes Michael Meyers different from Jason, Leatherface, and Freddy. Meyers was the white whale to Loomis' Ahab and his feverish chasing of Meyers propelled the movie around Meyers' actions. In the other slasher flicks we basically wait for the characters to figure out what's going on and ultimately fell the villain (usually by luck). Meanwhile Loomis is trying to tell everyone what's up and they don't listen and thus perish. It's why I like the Halloween flicks better than the other slasher flicks.

In H2O, Jamie Lee Curtis' character took that roll. In Halloween 8 (whatever it was called) they tried to fill that role with who? Busta Rhymes? Granted there was a whole lot more wrong with that film but lack of Loomis was a major one. I originally thought casting Malcolm McDowell was genius but unfortunately Rob Zombie's script didn't leave him a whole lot to do. I don't know, he didn't do it for me. So if anything I'd want to see who was going to fill that role - not necessarily Loomis but someone Loomis-like.

With others here, Zombie's first Halloween, very good, second one, wtf happened? One of best theme songs ever... original movie still the best...

Just go back and continue in the original timeline. No one cared about Rob Zombie's 'evil white trash' take on Myers enough to be confused by that approach.

If it's like this it could

sadly it wont, especially with that title.

I actually liked Halloween III. They'd have my full support in going back to Carpenter's original concept of an anthology series centered on the holiday itself.

Also, that ending.

They need to beg John Carpenter to come back and do something new and creative with this franchise. I have felt for a long time that, unlike Jason, there is a greater potential for character development with Michael Myers that the constraints of the slasher genre prevent writers from exploring. But since Carpenter created the character, I would love to see where he in particular would go with it.

Reboot...don't remake the original but start fresh. Zombie's movies were friggin weird as hell. Make them VERY bloody but less weird shit and no Michael Myers childhood bs. The only things Zombie's movies had going for them was they were violent, bloody, and tits...

Rebot this cause Rob Zombie's version SUCKED!!!!! Do it justice and make it in the vien of the 1978 version and not some House of a 1000 Corpses sick weird rip off!

They should reboot it if they make it at all. Zombie's flick kinda sucked. I understood what he was trying to do but he completely missed the whole point of the character of Michael. You're not supposed to know why he's a killer cause he's not supposed to even be human. He's just the embodiment of evil.

Zombie's remake freaked the shit out of me when I saw it. It did what it was supposed to do and was well put together.

Is here any stories left to tell within the original canon? I say go on with the more recent ones, and give a definite no to a reboot.

Honestly, it's not like we're talking about high art here...

There was a twenty-fifth anniversary comic that followed Sam Loomis' son David continuing his father's work while trying to avoid the obsession that undid him. Think that would be very interesting to see on film.
