Oh boy, after nearly a year away from the site due to work and other life things going on, I decided to come back strong and with a bang. With a bang you say? Because the following movie Im about to review will make you wish you banged your head up against a wall, it's THAT bad. The movie I'm about to review today comes from the oh so brilliant mind (and I use that term VERY loosely) of the dude who created Ghost Adventures. If you've never seen Ghost Adventures, it's about a team that go from house to house investigating paranormal occurances. Whether or not they're real, is up to you, the viewer and well....Demon House is essentially a hour and a half movie adaption (or a documentary?) of the tv show.
Pros: There's not really much to say in terms of the pros in this film. The story alone is enough to scare you. It's about a house in Indiana that, in some shape or form, has possessed someone who's ever step foot in the house. Ranging from kids to adults, the supernatural doesn't discriminate whatsoever. The beginning of the film where they're reenacting the kids being possessed by some kind of demon is the highlight. Speaking in deep voices, terrifying screams, walking backwards up walls...that's enough to send a chill up someone's spine.
Cons: But here's where the movie just takes a giant shit onto itself, as well as the audience. Zak Bagans, the dude from tv show, experiences something every 5 minutes. Now, I'm not an expert in this field by any means, but it takes a lot for a spirit to be annoyed, and apparently, everytime this bullshitter steps into a room, it all hits the fan. There are also times where the crew is affected but you never see what's being described, except for a scene where the one dude goes on a tirade and walks around looking oh so pissed off, (I kinda think he got drunk) and one scene where the host "attacks" his crew. Bagans also makes the boneheaded decision of boarding up ALL the windows in the house and apparently that pissed the demons off even more.
Final Thoughts: The problems I have with these documentary type films is that they're advertised as true stories but essentially come off as cheap bullshit intended to trick the viewer into what they're seeing is actually happening. From overexaggerating the story, to overexaggerating the interactions with the spirit world, if any, this movie is just one big pile of crap. If you wish to see something that's supposed to be based on true events, watch an actual film and not a documentary disguised as bullshit.
