The Latest Movie In Universal's Shared Universe Of Monster Films Gets A New Release Date.

Universal's mysterious new entry into their shared universe of monster films has changed it's March 2018 release date. It would seem the reason for the change is to avoid going up against another potential blockbuster from legendary director Steven Spielberg.

Universal Studios has hit yet another bump in the road on the way to creating their own shared universe franchise. The studio had planned on releasing one of the films in the series in March of 2018, unfortunately that is around the same time Steven Spielberg's "Ready Player One" will be released. The currently untitled monster film will now be released in April of that same year. "Ready Player One" was originally scheduled to be released in December of 2017, but had to be rescheduled itself so as to avoid going up against Star Wars: Episode VIII.

While there are no details yet about what Universal's mystery project could be, some have speculated it may be either "The Bride of Frankenstein" or "The Wolfman". "The Bride of Frankenstein" will be produced by Brian Grazer(A Beautiful Mind) and written by David Koepp(Jurassic Park. Sam Raimi's Spider-Man).

Alex Kurtzman(Star Trek Into Darkness. Transformers Revenge of the Fallen) & Chris Morgan(Fast & Furious 6. Furious 7. 47 Ronin) have been placed in charge of developing Universal's new monster series. The studio is set to kick off the franchise on June 9, 2017 with the release of a new Mummy film, which stars Tom Cruise and Sofia Boutella as the Mummy herself. The film will be written by Jon Spaihts( Doctor Strange. Prometheus) and directed by Alex Kurtzman himself.

The Invisible man will also be joining the series in his own film starring Johnny Depp as the title character.

Why can't it be a new Creature from the Black Lagoon movie. I really want to see what Gill-Man could look like these days, yet it looks like I'm the only one.

@BlackIceJoe - A Creature from the Black Lagoon remake was suppose to be in the works, but I haven't heard anything new about the project for a couple of months. The rumor is that the studio wanted Scarlett Johansson for the lead and Jeff Pinkner(writer/producer of the tv show Fringe and one of the many co-writers of Amazing Spider-Man 2)was suppose to be working on the script.

@HadesAnubis - Thanks for the info and I'm happy to hear there still could be a new movie. But I'm worried if Scarlett becomes the main character that she won't be killed, because Gill-Man killed everyone off in the movie and I'd hate to see Gill-Man being killed off instead. Thanks again.

@BlackIceJoe - Gill-Man didn't kill everyone off in the original movie or in the sequels, though.

@Retribution13 - Maybe you're right, it has been some time since I've watched the old films. I guess my nostalgia is a little rusty.

GIVE ME SOME DAMN NEWS ON A CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON REMAKE DAMMIT.

I mean granted I shouldn't be asking for a remake that'll most likely [frick] it all up, BUT DAMMIT EVERY OTHER MONSTER HAS GOTTEN THEMSELVES A REMAKE BUT THE GILL-MAN!
