There's no doubt a smorgus board of potentailly riveting movies coming out this year and narrowing it down to five is rough. But these are the ones that are making the cut. Without any further ado...

#5 Halloween

Ah yes, up first on my list I have to show some love for one of my favorite genres and horror icons: Michael Myers himself. Not a lot is known about this film yet but some obvious highlights are: it will be a direct sequel to the original John Carpenter directed Halloween. Throwing all of the ridculous and laughable sequels to the wayside. Also Jamie Lee Curtis will be returning to reprise her role as Laurie Strode. This is super exciting for fans of the series, I belive some actual closure will be reached in this outing and will revert back to some of the more intense feelings of the first two films. A great deal of fans felt let down by Rob Zombie's ultra violent remake on the character, so hopefully this will be a fresh but familar take on the shape that everyone can enjoy.

#4 Deadpool 2

Deadpool blew us all away in 2016. Fox took the leash off of Ryan Reynolds and company and let them do what they pleased. With a hard R rating the group were able to pull off some truly fantastic action and comedy sequences that were way over the top and perfectly fit within the universe. This time around we get the addition of Josh Brolin as the time traveling mutant Cable which seems to be a great casting choice. There's a good chance that Disney will be abtaining the film rights from Fox soon which leaves us all wondering what exactly will come of the merc with a mouth, hopefully our witty friend can make a smooth transition over to the MCU with a few meta retcons to fit it in nicely.

#3 Black Panther

The king has arrived in what appears to be another high octane, adrenaline filled hit for the MCU. I remember not knowing much about the character of T'Challa going into Civil War but instantly wanted to learn more from seeing him in the trailers. He brought an intensity that has been unmatched by anyone else in the series so far and he demands respect when he's on screen. Trailers and TV spots for this movie are absolutely nuts and I can't wait to see T'Challa in his own world of Wakanda juggling his role as a King and a Protector. My IMAX tickets are already bought and waiting to be used.

#2 The Incredibles 2

14 years...... 14 years I've waited for this. It's always blown me away that anothe Pixar movie "Cars" got 2 sequels and a spinoff but it has taken this long to finally get a sequel to The Incredibles. I'm already an avide Comic Book Movie fan but then you throw in comic based characters into a Pixar movie directed by Brad Bird, you have a recipe for success. I've always loved The Incredibles and truly can not wait to pick back up with this odd ball family.

#1 Avengers: Infinity War

Alright look, I know as soon as you clicked on this article you said something along these lines, "I bet Avengers Infinity War is number one." Well look at you, you were right! I honestly don't see how anything else could take this spot. Here we are 10 years after the start of a legacy of films and we're getting ultimate closure. While the MCU has several team up movies under it's belt none are quite this extensive with such high stakes. Some serious things could be happening with this installment and all we can do is sit around and speculate. Do our favorite characters die? Does time get rewritten? There's so many questions to ask. Avengers: Infinity War and it's direct sequel will no doubt be films for the ages that will leave most of us either angry or in tears. I'm in nervous discontent impatienly waiting for May 4th to arrive to finally see the end of a saga.

Honorable Mentions

Venom

I'm only slightly excited for Venom because of Tom Hardy playing Eddie Brock. It pains me to think that this film and amazing villian will never be a part of the MCU and interact with Tom Holland's Spider-Man.

Alitta: Battle Angel

I have to be completly honest when I say I know nothing about this manga series, nor am I a fan of manga or anime. But the visuals shown in the trailers for this movie are mind blowing and have caught my attention for sure.

But what about Solo: A Star Wars Story?

I'm kidding, the real omission is Isle of Dogs.

My top 5 films:

1. Avengers: Infinity War
2. Black Panther
3. Mission Impossible: Fallout
4. Deadpool 2
5. Sicario 2: Soldado

Honorable mention:
6. Antman and the Wasp

Other films I'm interested in or are on my radar:
- Pacific Rim: Uprising
- Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
- The Predator
- Annihilation
- Ready Player One
- Halloween

I love Halloween, Michael Myers is my favorite horror icon, but this movie isn't in the top for me this year (I hope it will be great) and I don't like that they've decided to ignore ALL of the films that came after the original film.
