Don Cheadle Talks THE AVENGERS 2; Shane Black Comments On Extremis

Don Cheadle reveals whether or not we should expect to see War Machine make an appearance in the highly anticipated sequel to Marvel's The Avengers, while Iron Man 3 writer and director Shane Black elaborates on the decision to use the Extremis armour.

Talking to Fandango yesterday, Iron Man 3 star Don Cheadle was quizzed on whether or not we can expect to see him appear in a sequel to Marvel's billion dollar hit, The Avengers. Unfortunately, no explanation was given as to why we didn't see Rhodey in that film (perhaps we'll get an answer next May?) but the actor did reveal that "everything has been discussed" when it comes to War Machine appearing in the planned sequel.

"I don't know. The good thing about the Marvel Universe is that all the characters can intersect and everybody can play with each other. So, that may happen just for War Machine on his own. We'll see. Everything's been discussed."

Meanwhile, in a separate video interview with Comic Vine, writer and director Shane Black was quizzed about why they're using the Extremis armour in Iron Man 3. Judging by the comments made below, it definitely sounds as if the events of The Avengers played a role in the decision. We still don't know an awful lot about how big of a part it will play in the highly anticipated threequel, but the Extremis armour was possibly unveiled on the floor of the San Diego Comic-Con yesterday (if you missed it, find those images HERE).

"Because in all the things that we could come up with which would sort of take this to a grittier place, a sort of high-tech Michael Clayton style thriller place, we thought Extremis worked. What are you gonna do after aliens? When there are giant aliens coming out of the sky, what are you gonna do? So, we've decided to try something a little more bizarre and interesting."

STARRING:

Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man
Ben Kingsley as The Mandarin
Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts
Don Cheadle as Rhodey/War Machine
Guy Pearce as Aldrich Killian
Rebecca Hall as Dr. Maya Hansen
Ashley Hamilton as Jack Taggert

Not to mention aside from the suitcase, Tony (in the MCU) needs a better armor deployment system to keep up with trouble.

I watched the video, he said Michael Crichton, not Michael Clayton. Clayton doesn't make sense.

Shane Black is my favorite directorial choice by Marvel. He's set to make the most badass Iron Man film. China, Miami, Malibu— it's gonna be sexy. Even the cream-red armor is sexy. And I'm sure The Mandarin scenes will be more badass than Kill Bill Vol. 1. Oh yeah, and Shane Black is actually funny, and not "I'm-so-witty" funny.

What DO you do after aliens burst out of the sky to kill you?!!! What do you do next?
Reminds me of the dialog between Batman and Gordon on the rooftop at the end of BB. The rules of escalation and all.

They should have had him just show up after they all got loki, say he was doing other stuff and gone out with them for shawarma. you have tony make a shawarmachine joke at the restaurant and your out. play with the big universe concept a little. They totally ignored him

I have faith in this movie now that Shane Black is involved. He's the genius behind the first two Lethal Weapon movies. IMO, the first LW was one of the most badass action movies ever.

Better question where was War Machine during The Avengers!?

I know the aliens were chump change weakling but still he could of been useful. Like the 500 SHIELD agents who dudnt lift a finger lol

Intruder

Lazy writing. Contradicts everything the universe has been building on. WM should of been featured on a SHIELD screen in active duty or unavailable.

SLJ giving clichè speeches during the fight lol Who are you talking to? How bout you help defend the planet!!

Capt America isnt the smartest. He isnt even from this century. WM is a soldier. A capable soldier who doesnt crash planes into icebergs. Idiotic ending.

WM is more capable then cinematic Cap. And better choice.
