If Natalia Vodianova did not take the role of Medusa in Louis Leterrier's 'Clash of the Titans' she might have landed the role of 'The Black Widow' in Iron Man 2. Could that have happened? Maybe. Not wasting her time with Clash could have freed her up to portray Marvel's leading Russian spy. 'Star Wars' ended the careers of everyone involved save George Lucas and Harrison Ford, who's to say Medusa didn't do the same thing to Natalia Vodianova? Or maybe (and this is the explanation that makes sense) Natalia couldn't act her way out of a paper bag or back into my loving arms, and Favs, being the genius he is, saw it.

Either way Natalia is hot, so hot in fact she has earned a coveted Gallery spot over at ComicBookHotties! All that gibberish you just read in the paragraph above, is just that. Gibberish! Except the fact that she probably couldn't act her way out of a paper bag(In Favs I Trust). That's just my opinion and I don't charge for it.

As it was, the Black Widow was pretty useless in Iron Man 2. One dimensional character badly miscast.

I didnt like Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow either. The accent was the main thing, but other than that she just didnt make the character come alive. Her little Miss Muffet curls were weird too.

I'd be willing to wrestle them both, or any other pretty girls, to determine who's tough enough for the role. But seriously, I was almost embarrassed to be watching Iron Man during the Scarlet Jo-whoever scenes. She's lacks the muscle to fight any man effectively (I'm not a pig, it's true)...

@ZEN69, agreed, it was like watching a card board cutout march around on screen. She was ridiculous and looked uncomfortable in her Black Widow outfit. She was the most unrealistic aspect of the movie, and that's saying something.

Im tired of people complaining about Scarjo being black widow. She takes the role seriously. She could only act within the role she was given hince no accent. Compaired to her other roles in her career she displayed a put off suspicious spy well. I like her as Widow and dont mind her being in Avengers. A lot of people are upset that Hank and Jan arent official members in the first movie. I really think they will either be mentioned or background Shield agents and Ultron will eventually be adapted for the silver screen. I have not yet disliked any choice Marvel studios have done with their own franchises.

Well Milla Jovovich will always be my first choice for Black Widow. This chick might have been fine too. Jon Favereau only put ScarJo to make some extra dough for IM2. Truthfully, anybody but ScarJo woulda been fine she was such a huge mistake and now she's gonna be in the Avengers. Bummer.

watched iron man 2 again today on blu-ray,i enjoyed it more than when i watched it at the cinema.

its good but not great iron man is still better,the action scenes are awesome & thor's hammer.

the action scenes are better its just the bits inbetween i.e the birthday party,new element discovery & the strawberry scene.

yeah scarlett was weak as black widow. you know people bitch about certain characters being changed especially with race issues and yet people were cool with scarlett as black widow who is a russian spy. was she russian at all? no she was american and no accent and nothing about her except for the lousy red hair and some fighting moves apparently made her black widow

How did Mila Jovovich not get this role.She looks like Natasha,she speaks Russian fluently,and she has a background in action pictures.It's possibly the most obvious superhero casting choice ever.Up there with Patrick Stewart as Professor X.

Natalia Vodianova looks nothing like the Black Widow. People need to realize that just because somebody's Russian doesn't mean they can play Black Widow. Just because someone's German doesn't mean they can play Red Skull. Just because someone's black doesn't mean they can play Luke Cage.

I liked Scarlett Johansen as the Black Widow. I also liked Iron Man 2. Not as good as the first one, but was still great fun with lots of talent and a witty script. Scarlett Johansen had me crossing my legs the entire time. ;D

Here's hoping Iron Man 3 pleases everyone and finally brings in THE MANDARIN!!

Didn't like the Black Widow and Nick Fury parts at all in Iron Man 2. It felt like Marvel was trying too hard to incorporate as many characters in one movie as they could. Which is one of the reasons why I find part one to be a much better movie. I just hope Thor doesn't suffer from the same thing just to please a few fanatics.

I felt like the strawberry scene was anything but pointless. It really added to the likeable relationship between Pepper and Tony. It was a funny scene. It was a cute scene. And honestly, that kind of development is what really made Iron Man 1 for a lot of people, myself included.

Now Peter Parker dancing down the street Saturday Night Fever style in SM3... THAT'S a pointless scene.
