REVIEW: Iron Man 2 Fails

In a time when movies are getting worse, you'd expect the sequel to the great Iron Man to be better than the first, right? WRONG!

The film has a total of three action sequences, the best being the first, the second played purely for jokes, and the last anti-climactic garbage. In between these action sequences, we meet new and uninteresting characters, and we also get a load of S.H.E.I.L.D jargon that many will care very little about upon viewing Iron Man 2. This movie plays like a two-parter to a television drama, the story and villains being fairly generic. The content of Iron Man 2 is not up to the quality of a big budget super hero sequel. Spider Man 2 was better, Hellboy 2 (as silly and unapologetic as it was) was better, and yes, even Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen had (though not as good as the first) more entertainment value than Iron Man 2. Unlike Revenge of the Fallen, Iron Man 2 has a coherent and fairly logical story, but at least Revenge of the Fallen kept our action needs satisfied. Sure, Robert Downey Jr. can make a bad movie better (Sherlock Holmes), but it's just not enough this time around. I believe that the many positive reviews of this film will look very silly in retrospect, when, in a few years, we look back and think why we paid money for this crap.

Talk about not being specific. Try using cognitive thought before you decide to just throw together a review, because really all this is a paragraph of bitching. I haven't seen the movie yet so I can't comment if it's good or not, but your argument holds no water all you said in a nut shell is, "Three fight scenes suck" that's it. How about before wasting Review space you actually put some effort into your review instead of giving us a short paragraph of just overly opinionated crap with no substance.

i'm waiting to hear the facts. i hear nothing but opinions which is great. reviews are about your opinions. glad you have that nailed down. but i'm waiting for you to cite facts that gave you your opinion. which characters were uninteresting? what was anticlimatic about the final action sequence?
i know almost everything there is to know about Iron Man 2. i just haven't seen the film yet.
i'm probably gonna have to wait until next Thursday to watch it in IMAX.
but it appears to me that one of two things happened:
(1) you wrote this article half cocked and didn't actually think through your opinon.
or
(2) you have been bought out by Justin Hammer to give the film a bad review that way we do not endorse Iron Man.
i am inclined to think the former.
i am not saying i don' care for your opinion but i believe that you need to give this article a MAJOR overhaul.

@Paulley
kinda have to agree with Minotauro on this one. how can you not like Hellboy II?
that film was entirely underrated!

I liked the film, but I think the most entertaining thing about the movie is the humor, and Tony just isn't this fun when I read about him. Justin Hammer was a total joke, he was like his character for Galaxy Quest, only bad. Natasha wasn't very Russian at all. I understand that a spy has to drop and pick up accents and languages, but I think from the film you would assume that she's a naturalized U.S. citizen from Russian decent, unless I missed a line in the movie. She had some cool fight scenes, but I still think Hit-Girl could take her down. While she's fighting a bunch of guys, Happy is fighting one guy and it's supposed to be comedic, it is comedic, but Happy is a boxer. Why is everyone making him out to be such a joke? Whiplash/Crimson Dynamo finally got in a suit at the end, and he lasted maybe a minute. Mostly when Tony fought the enemy, he was flying around.

The cool toys are...cool.

I also don't like Pepper and Tony getting together at the end, because I know she's supposed to marry Happy. I'm aware that she bounced between them, but there's no hint of them being true on that front. There was also no real chemistry to indicate that she would be cool with the romance at the end. She spent the most of the movie being pissed at Tony and he was...a completely reckless tool.

I liked the other Rhodey. It's a weird and drastic change and I liked the prior interpretation. Don did an okay job, but it just wasn't cool for me.

I didn't like the Cap shield thing going on because it was a weird cameo that was only intended for a laugh and didn't really have a point. It kind of made me go "What the heck?"

It was enjoyable. It's not my favorite comic book movie of the year. I think the best Marvel produced movie is still Incredible Hulk, but I think Thor's gonna smash them all.

Just got back from a midnight showing. This reviewer is a tard. His lazy and inept review is a reflection of his attention span and what he looks for to 'dazzle' his starry little eyes.

This is a sequel that out does its predecessor. I can't wait to see it again this weekend.

This reviewer is dumb..sorry but IM2 was excellent and so what if it had a few less action scenes than normal...as long as the story and plot is good...I couldn;t care if there was NO action. I bet you're one of these people who loved Transformers...because it was all explosions and puns and crappy acting...well [frick] that...Iron Man 2 was amazing.

I never insinuated that you were stating the movie was bad, I just thought it was ironic about your avatar and statement. That'd be like me saying Guinness is overrated, see what I'm saying? Chill the f^ck out.
