Set in the world of DC's New 52, Justice League: War, being released next month, is inspired by the first JL arc written by Geoff Johns and drawn by Jim Lee. As things unfold, the members of the League meet for the first time and have to learn to work together while fighting Darkseid and his minions.

"My take was basically The Breakfast Club With Superheroes," laughs writer Heath Corson. "These are guys who are meeting each other for the first time; these are people who have maybe seen or heard of each other. The world is just starting to know about them. What if they had no idea about each other, what they're capable of, what they'll do, what they can do? These are guys in their '20s and, let's be honest, a 25-year-old Green Lantern is a douche. He's a frat boy. And then you rub him against Batman, who's a little introverted to the say the least, and you've got something there. Superman is really a super alien. He's a bruiser. He's not the boy scout. He's the guy who knows how to talk with his fists, so in this we're really leaning on the fact that he's not the one saying we should do the right thing. He's the one floating five feet above the ground with his arms crossed and his eyes glowing red. Once all of these voices and dynamics got locked in, it was super fun to play with these guys."

Justice League War Shazam Superman Batman Wonder Woman

"When they first meet up, they do fight the villains in the movie, but they're getting in each other's way," elaborates director Jay Oliva, who also served as storyboard artist of Man of Steel and has directed numerous animated films, including Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox. "There's no teamwork whatsoever until the very end when they start to work together and become the start of what they will eventually be. I think what this story's about is really the coming together of all of these strong personalities, and the birth of a new hero, which is Cyborg. And thrown in the mix is Darkseid. I will say one thing about that final battle between the Justice League and Darkseid: wait until you see Wonder Woman go off on him. It's beautiful!"

Darkseid is a character who did not have a huge presence in the original comic story, but that's different in the film version as his ultimate goal is to terraform the Earth into another Apokalips. "Basically what we did," Oliva says, "was set the film over the course of one night. From the time that the movie starts to the time it ends, it's just the longest night ever."

I can't wait for this it sounds like a lot of fun. And WW alwways gets the best fights!! "Superman/Batman: Apocalypse," "Crisis on Two Earths," "Flashpoint."

@ ALmight - It's before he becomes that version. In the New 52 he wasn't able to become that until people stopped fearing his abilities and he was fully accepted. He does the right things for the right reasons but he needs to still become that inspiration.

Probably the first DC Animated Film I honestly think will [frick]ing suck. I especially hate Superman's character design and WW's personality from what I have seen.

His Superman description sucks as well. Hell, Superman even LOOKS like a douche let alone the voice actor and personality they have grafted onto this version.

I literally had a inner facepalm when I saw WW's pupils dilate with drama, chorus music in the background while she raises her sword like she's about to fight someone and screams "ICE-CREAM IS WONDERFUL", with that terrible voice actress delivering the lines... Good Lord...

@Wolverine

I hate almost every single time Superman is drawn. He either looks like a pretty boy douche bag, a steroid using douchebag and when he does look manly he looks like he's 50 (Alex Ross). Preferable something resembling Cavill as he was the perfect middleground for manly, gruff, badass and young-pretty boy. This Superman here is a Tom Cruise douche with shoulders the size of car wheels.

I'm kind of skeptical about this. DC should have had Aquaman in the film. Aquaman is still seen as a joke to the people who don't read the comics, but watch the films. How does DC ever expect Aquaman to be taken seriously when they'll barely even let him see the light of day in other media?

Other than that, this film looks like an okay joyride. I'm interested in seeing it.

Already been explain why Clark in the new 52 started out angry and violent

When Ma and Pa died he blamed himself and his perceived weaknesses. So he lashed out and acted out in the early onset of the new 52. He's a much calmer Superman now.

Everyone should ask batman what can he do .

Besides be a overrated that is
CavEl
CavEl - 1/9/2014, 12:19 PM
@ MAC - Remember, he was weak willed and constantly trying to prove himself as strong. That means arrogantly charging in with reckless disdain. When GL and Batman showed up, GL challenged him by saying his ring can take him out.

So he one hit KO'ed him, then he wanted to test Batman. And people forget that Batman threw all he had at him, it's just, you know, Batman doesn't stand a chance and Superman made quick work of him.

The point of the new 52 was to introduce change to the characters.I enjoyed a reckless, egotistical Superman. You should read Greg Pak's action... his Superman is "pre-52" Superman.
