RUMOR: Danny Elfman Will Apparently Revisit His Original Batman Theme In JUSTICE LEAGUE

Not long after Danny Elfman's reveal that he would use John Williams' Superman theme for Justice League, a new report claims he'll also be reusing his own iconic theme from Tim Burton's Batman films...

When Danny Elfman was first announced to be taking over as composer for Justice League, there were some who hoped that he would reuse his much-beloved theme from the Tim Burton Batman films. Given that the Batman featured in Justice League is a rebooted version of the character who, in addition to being played by a different actor, had already been given his own theme in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice courtesy of Junkie XL, that scenario seemed somewhat unlikely. And since Elfman didn't reuse his theme from Ang Lee's Hulk when he took over for Avengers: Age of Ultron, it was safe to assume that he wouldn't bring his original Batman theme to Justice League either.

However, when the man himself recently revealed that he intended to carry over John Williams' iconic Superman theme into Justice League, the hope that he would revisit his classic Batman theme was rekindled. And if Film Music Reporter, a fairly reliable source when it comes to news regarding film and TV music, is to be believed, then Elfman will indeed be revisiting his old theme for Justice League. The source doesn't emphasize how frequently the theme will be used, so it's probably best to take this with a grain of salt. However, if this turns out to be true, the return of Elfman's theme seems like an exciting prospect regardless of how often it will be used.

So what do you think? Are you excited to hear Elfman's Batman theme on a big screen again (or for the first time)? How often do you hope the film uses it and in what context? Do you think it will fit this version of the character? Sound off down below!

@Spidey91 - well you know those supposed "extensive reshoots" were used to give cyborg some personality, so it's possible

Awesome if true. Speaking of themes. Just got back from Blade Runner 2049, loved that Hans kept the original theme of the original film.

Eh...Don't need it. They should be moving forward instead of stepping backwards. It only devalues the current theme.

@BlackStar25 - This is going to go so bad. We are going back to the Richard Lester Superman and Joel Schumacher Batman days. YES! The DCEU is over!

@Forthas - I love how you don't know anything about what's happened so far in Man of Steel and Batman v Superman (or at least in Batman v Superman) yet you "know" where they are going in Justice League.

Superman is not, nor was he ever, a bully or a sociopath or anything you claim and DC Films Batman's challenge is similar to that of Bruce Tom's Batman in the "Never Fear" episode of Batman: The Animated Series. Just like Luke wasn't angry and impatient in Return of the Jedi, Superman and Batman will be better, and stronger than they were in Batman v Superman. Superman will be the beacon of hope, brimming with joy and optimism and Batman will never kill, not even sentient super powered space aliens. If you call that the Richard Lester Superman and the Schumacher Batman, your view on these films is misguided.

Ummm... No. This is no Burton's Batman. It'd be like if Homecoming used the Elfman theme or Wonder Woman used the 70s theme or Justice League use the Williams the- oh, nevermind. *eyeroll*

Reusing both Superman and Batman themes is a win in my book. James Bond never needed a new theme, why should Superman and Batman
SisterSunday52
SisterSunday52 - 10/7/2017, 7:42 AM
@MonsieurCringe - Because the Burton and Donner eras have long since passed. The Batman and Superman in those films are in a completely separate universe. Like the Earth 2 Universe or something. This is the Modern Age DC movie universe. The themes, the character arcs, the journeys, etc. of those previous incarnations are not the same as those of the previous incarnations. Superman, having never known about where he was from, nor about his uniform, had to spend his life using his abilities to help people in complete secret (with everyone thinking he was an urban legend) and his journey to become Superman was much more of an uphill climb, and Batman lives in a world that has superpowered space aliens and all powerful witches among other things. The Modern Age heroes aren't the same as the "Silver and Bronze" Age heroes in the Burton and Donner films. The themes shouldn't be either.
